A proposed ban on sales of assault weapons would be defeated in the U.S. Senate today unless some members changed their current views, based on a Bloomberg review of recent lawmaker statements and interviews.
At least six of the 55 senators who caucus with Democrats have recently expressed skepticism or outright opposition to a ban, the review found. That means Democrats wouldn’t have a simple 51-vote majority to pass the measure, let alone the 60 votes needed to break a Republican filibuster to bring it to a floor vote. Fresh from persuading a $5 billion pension fund in Chicago to divest from companies that make firearms, the city’s mayor, Rahm Emanuel, on Thursday urged the chief executives of two major banks to stop financing companies ‘‘that profit from gun violence.’’

California communist Diane Feinstein proposed 150 new infringements upon the absolute, inalienable, cannot be infringed upon 2nd Amendment right of we the American nationals. Then, to add insult to injury, she proposed more tax money to the ATF goons for the enforcement of the 150 infringements.
It is good to see the people somewhat awake in that they have begun to identify the infringements, not as reasonable law and/or policy, not as gun control or gun safety, but as what they are – infringements.
The Bill of Rights is the people’s law, not to be confused with the Uniform Commercial Code which is the government’s law. The inalienable rights described in our Bill of Rights are the people’s rights, not the government’s. And government employees cannot so much as discuss our rights/law in any coalition with their law. Their law and our law can in no way be adjoined as they are opposed in subject matter. WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano warned on Thursday that a major cyber attack is a looming threat and could have the same sort of impact as last year’s Superstorm Sandy, which knocked out electricity in a large swathe of the Northeast.

It should come as no surprise that the Communist Party USA is on board with President Obama’s plan to attack Americans’ right to keep and bear arms as a means to “end gun violence.” A cardinal feature of communist regimes, like all dictatorships, is the prohibition of private ownership of arms, creating a monopoly of force in the hands of the State.

What can I say, we appear to have another amazing coincidence about the Sandy Hook school shooting. The man who Wikipedia credits as coining the term “assault rifle” also grew up in Newtown, Connecticut. For many people it is just a famous, comical quote, but some passengers on a New Zealand-bound flight did not see the funny side in Wynand Mullins’ T-shirt, which read “Prepare to die”.
In hindsight, Mr Mullins says his T-shirt, with a popular quote from the fantasy film The Princess Bride, may not have been the best clothing choice for a flight, but he believes the reaction of Qantas was over the top.
Mr Mullins, a Kiwi living in Sydney, was one of the first to board his Auckland-bound flight on Sunday evening. While other passengers took their seats, Mr Mullins was approached by a flight attendant who said some people on board were intimidated by the words on his shirt. While Democrats attempt to ban “military-style assault weapons” like the AR-15, a Rochester Institute of Technology student used that very gun to thwart home invaders and save his roommate’s life.
Christopher Boise heard noises in the basement of his apartment; when he went to investigate, he found two intruders. One of the men trained a gun on him. On Friday, December 14, 2012, twenty children and six school teachers and administrators were killed in a horrific mass shooting at the hands of a mentally ill individual. Unfortunately, this tragedy is not the only one of its kind. Last fall, we reported footage released of NYPD officers brutalizing a shirtless, shoeless homeless ban who was sleeping (with permission) in a Brooklyn synagogue youth outreach center.
21-year-old Ehud Halevi was beaten and pepper sprayed, as security camera recordings show, spent four days in prison and faced a string of charges including felony assault on a police officer — charges which were later dropped when the district attorney reviewed the disturbing video. This week, Gothamist reports, Halevi filed a federal lawsuit against the NYPD with the help of famed civil rights lawyer Norman Siegel. Siegel, the former director of the NYCLU told the Gothamist that he is confident Ehud will be awarded compensatory damages. The NYPD is facing a lawsuit from a woman who was injured in a police shootout outside of the Empire State Building in New York last summer. The 32-year-old was crossing the street when a stray bullet wounded her and eight other bystanders.

NYPD boss Ray Kelly was his version of giddy yesterday while describing new technology that will allow police to just see straight through people’s clothing. As detailed by The Wall Street Journal, “The so-called T-Ray machine detects terahertz radiation, a high-frequency electromagnetic natural energy that is emitted by people and can penetrate many materials.” Kelly, in a speech at the Waldorf-Astoria, explained, “If something is obstructing the flow of that radiation, for example a weapon, the device will highlight that object.” After a demonstration, he added, “You get a sense of why we’re so hopeful about this tool.” And the government is footing the bill. Citing his desire to protect constitutional rights, Yakima County Sheriff Ken Irwin announced Tuesday he is against a ban on assault weapons, but favors background checks on all firearms transactions.
In an interview with the Yakima Herald-Republic, Irwin said he decided to announce his position on two of President Barack Obama’s most controversial gun control proposals ahead of a clear-the-air meeting Friday with supporters of gun rights.
He acknowledged his position would probably fully satisfy neither supporters of gun rights nor supporters of increased gun control after the shootings in Newtown, Conn., last month that claimed the lives of 20 grade-school children and seven adults.
