WWSB 7 News – by Bobeth YatesSARASOTA, Fla. – A Suncoast woman remains shaken up after mistakenly becoming the subject of a police raid. The woman says U.S. Marshals were acting on a tip that lead them to the wrong home; and the raid left her staring down the barrel of a gun.
“I was washing dishes and out of my peripheral vision I saw movement. I looked up and there was a Rambo kind of guy with a vest and gun pointed at me with a white light. I dropped to the floor and I yelled to my boyfriend there is someone with a gun out there,” said 59-year-old Louise Goldsberry.
She says she then crawled from the kitchen to her bedroom, got her gun, and waited. “I saw the door open so I took aim. It was the only thing I knew how to do. All I saw was the white light and I saw a barrel of a gun. I didn’t see a person but he said ‘this is the f-ing police’,” Goldsberry added.
The U.S. Marshals were raiding her home. Goldsberry says it felt like she was in a war zone and even though she heard the word “police”, she says the gunmen’s behavior caused her to be skeptical. “It was really scary because he said ‘if you don’t put your gun down, I’m going to f-ing kill you.’ When he said that at first I wasn’t even sure if it was the police still because police don’t act like that and say that. I thought it was a home invasion. I thought is was some bad guys after me for some reason. ” Goldberry said.
Eventually Goldsberry put her gun down and was handcuffed. While she waited, the U.S. Marshals explained they were acting on an anonymous tip that led them to her home.
“I’m having a hard time processing it. I want to understand, I want to know the truth, I want to know why they came here, who called, what made them do that and is that standard practice,” said Goldsberry.
ABC 7 had some of the same questions. So we placed several calls to the US Marshals’ office but were unable to get a response. But according to an article written by Tom Lyons in the Sarasota Harold the officer at the door was Matt Wiggins. He was quoted saying they were looking for a child-rape suspect Kyle Riley, who was arrested several hours later in another part of Sarasota.
But Goldsberry says something said by the officer during the incident may be the basis of the entire ordeal. “His comment was they’re federal marshals and they can basically do what they want.”

And the police love to work on slander of a person. So we need some laws were once you are slandered by a person they go back and arrest that person.
