The Honey Tap

Big Geek Dad

If you’ve ever dreamed of being a backyard beekeeper and having your own honey then you’re going to love the Flow™ Hive. This innovative beehive was created by two Australians to make it easy for people to harvest the honey from the beehive. It is quite simply like having fresh honey on tap. With the bee population becoming diminished in recent years I’m hopeful that a concept like this will allow the bees to flourish and let them keep doing Mother Nature’s important work.

If you really want the bees to flourish, stop eating their baby food. They didn’t make that stuff for your tea.

    1. I took the bee keeping course on You Tube. The queen, eggs and honey cells for them is separate from the excess honey is collected for food. Note the large box on the bottom that is where the queen and her workers are. That large box contains usually 12 or more large cell frames .There a blocker frame between the large box on the bottom and the smaller one on the top. It keeps the queen in the lower box where the egg cells are. Only excess honey is stored above but believe me there is plenty below for not only the eggs, nectar and honey for the bees and the larvae. That lower box is not used for food collection but new bees that can start another hive or replace the older ones that die off. was an amazing learning experience I know all about bees now and their beauty and function now.

      1. That’s interesting. I thought the larvae were in the top box, because it looks like honeycombs. I’m going to look for this you-tube bee course because I’ve always wanted to make honey. (I use a lot of it in my tea — wasn’t really worried about their babies) and I want a lot of bees around here for my apple trees, too.
