Iodine – a Pillar Against Infections

Iodine offers a serious and potent replacement for much of the antibiotics that are literally destroying people’s lives and can be used safely with children. Nature and evolution have given us an important mechanism to control pathogenic life forms and we should use it and trust it to protect us in ways that antibiotics can’t.

Yes in dire emergency we can still use an antibiotic when all else has failed but until that kind of critical point, iodine can be the main line of defense against a full range of pathogens.

The way to combat antibiotic resistance is not bigger, better, stronger antibiotics but, rather, no antibiotics at all. Instead, other molecular weapons are available with the ability to disable bad germs without bothering good ones. Iodine is the ideal broad spectrum antibiotic that is not an antibiotic – it is not against life. Not against human life that is but you can hear the little pathogens screaming as high enough levels of iodine fan out through the system. This amino acid has a calming effect on the brain and is also involved in growth. Research suggests that glycine may help promote deeper sleep. Glycine also has a positive impact on attention and memory in adults. Glycine may also help boost the immune defense system and has oxidative stress regulating effects.

Glycine is found naturally in beef, poultry, fish and seafood. The amount in a nightly dose of Glysom is equivalent to that of 10 large sea scallops or shrimps. Though glycine can be absorbed from food, it would be difficult on an ordinary diet to absorb enough to saturate the blood. At saturation levels, glycine readily crosses the blood brain barrier via passive diffusion. A supplemental dose of 3 g before bed readily accomplishes this.

Since an enlarged prostrate gland is common among senior males, making urination difficult and many times subject to an operation, I have learned how to eliminate the urination problem. I have done this by using using Pumpkins Seed oil caps on a daily basis for about 5 years or so. Two a day usually suffices. Do vegetarians have more knee pain?

In a study, the authors looked at 180 patients with osteoarthritis of the knees. They compared their diets to 180 people who were of similar age and health status whose knees were fine. They found a significantly lower intake of vitamin D in all of the arthritis cases compared to those who had healthy knees.

They also found that the patients with arthritis had diets that were higher in green leafy vegetables and lower in dairy, meats, and fish, whereas the healthy knee group had diets with less leafy greens and more dairy, meats, and fish. What’s the difference between these two? The more vegetarian types of diets are lower in vitamin D.

So if you have arthritis of the knee, especially if you tend toward a vegetarian lifestyle, make sure you have your vitamin D level checked. A level of 60-70 ng/ml is the best level to be at. So if you are below that number, please take enough vitamin D to get in that range.

My wife would have garlic oil which was made by cut up garlic cloves in mineral oil. And recently, in a study done at the University of California, researchers who gave mice grapefruit juice (mice will drink grapefruit juice!) not only lost weight, but had better blood sugar levels.

In fact, the reduction in blood sugar achieved with grapefruit was similar to that of the common type 2 diabetes drug metformin.

So here we’ve got an amazing food, one that can lower your blood sugar the same as an Rx drug, keeps cholesterol and triglycerides down, and yet for millions it’s a forbidden fruit.
