RICE VALLEY, Ore. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says at about 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, it received a report of a stolen four wheeler from a barn in the 800 block of Thurman Road.
Deputies and Oregon State troopers spotted the stolen vehicle, but were unable to pursue it due to the terrain. The suspected driver of the four wheeler, 24 year old Ryan Scevers, had a dog with him at the time.
About an hour and a half later at 10:10 a-m, detectives recieved a report from a resident in the 3000 block of Rice Hill Road, that they had just shot someone after a confrontation at their home. Deputies say Frank Hendrickson shot and killed a dog on his property that had been chasing animals.
Then a short time later, Scevers rode onto Hendrickson’s driveway in the stolen four wheeler and started shooting at Hendrickson and his wife Delilah Knight. One of the rounds Scever’s fired struck a window at the home knocking Knight to the ground. She was hospitalized for a suspected broken hip.
Another round fired by Scevers struck and killed Hendrickson’s dog. Hendrickson then returned fire, hitting Scevers. Scevers was declared dead on the scene.
No arrests have been made and the case will likely be presented to a Douglas County Grand Jury.

See cops..(pigs)
thats what can happen when you shoot someones dog .. the owner has all rights to dust your skull
this is a lesson that this dead man (thief too) just learned , but cant teach to anyone because he’s dead
STAY OFF MY LAWN!
sorry to hear about the loss of your dog Mr. Hendrickson
Why did it have to go to a grand jury?
Hendrickson is going to be badly punished financially.
I used to live in Oregon. Left when I discovered everything is against the law there. The state gets a fair amount of their revenue by hauling people into court for fines. Even if they don’t prosecute, they’ll find something to get his money.
A grand jury! The man lost his dog and almost lost his wife. Seems pretty clear cut to me.
story seems a little strange
that or the guy killed was strange
since when do cops give up chase
not around here they don’t…unless
plus, he didn’t make it too far
started out in the 800 block
went as far as 3000 block
in an hour and a half
