An NYPD officer was shot in the right foot and was among seven people taken to a local hospital early Saturday after a shootout in the Bronx, police and witnesses said.

The shooting occurred on E. 137th St. and Lincoln Rd. in Mott Haven about 2:10 a.m., officials said. Police responded to a party where a fight broke out in which there were bats, knives and guns.

NYPD Officer Sherrod Stuart recovers at Lincoln Hospital after he was shot.Police officer Sherrod Stuart, 25, arrived to the scene with his partner and exchanged gunfire with suspect Christopher Rice, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.

“As backup units arrived the officers engaged in a gunfight during which police officer Stuart was struck in the right foot,” Bratton said. “He returned gunfire, striking the male suspect four times.”

Both Stuart and the suspect were taken to Lincoln Hospital, officials said. Stuart is in stable condition, while Rice, 19, is in serious condition.

Five other stabbing victims were taken to local hospitals, officials said.

A .380 semi-automatic firearm, three other weapons and knives were recovered at the scene, Bratton said.

Mayor de Blasio along with PBA President Pat Lynch joined Stuart and his family at the hospital.

“This young man as you heard, just four years on the job, he already has a very, very impressive career in terms of the work he’s done, getting to the anti-crime unit,” de Blasio said. “He had distinguished himself already. In this situation, he distinguished himself further with his quick thinking and his brave actions and thank God his injuries are not life threatening.”

Officers from ESU later searched a four-story building on Third Ave., where the party occurred, officials said.

“There was arguing  and then there was screaming,” a resident who didn’t give his name said. “A cop came by and then there were shots.”

A security guard at the K-Lounge restaurant said he saw people running back and forth.

“Then I heard about 15 shots,” he said. “The ambulance came out and put two people inside. They looked young.”

  1. “… the officers engaged in a gunfight during which police officer Stuart was struck in the right foot,”

The shooter was such a bad shot the pig had to shoot himself in the foot to get some time off.

“… his injuries are not life threatening.”

    CR@P!!!

  2. Right foot?
Probably shot himself while shitting and pissing pants…while drawing his weapon with his finger on the trigger.
Do you think the real ballistics report will ever be published on this case?
    I doubt it.
I hate being this cynical, but it wasn’t my choice.
But hey. He’s a hero according to the MSM.
