Like Bush Saying “You’re Either With Us or Against Us”

Preface: The scientific method requires allowing a free-for-all of hypotheses, which then rise or fall based upon the results of actual experiments.

For example, imprisoning Galileo for life because he didn’t agree with the “accepted” consensus that the Sun revolved around the Earth was not a great example of the scientific method. Instead of conducting experiments to see whether the Earth or Sun were the center of the Solar System, those with the prevailing view simply silenced the dissenter.   Continue reading “Anti-Science: Those Who Wish to Debate Climate Threatened with Death or Jail”

CAIRO –  A court in southern Egyptian has convicted 529 supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi, sentencing them to death on charges of murdering a policeman and attacking police.

The court in Minya issued its ruling on Monday after only two sessions in which the defendants’ lawyers complained they had no chance to present their case.   Continue reading “Egypt sentences 529 supporters of ex-president Morsi to death over violence, murder”

Sharia principles are to become enshrined in the UK legal system for the first time, with The Law Society publishing guidelines for drawing up documents according to Islamic rules, which would exclude non-believers and encroach on women’s rights.

The new guidelines were produced by The Law Society earlier this month. Under the guidance, High Street solicitors will be able to write Islamic wills which will have the power to exclude non-believers completely and deny women an equal share of an inheritance.   Continue reading “Sharia law to be adopted into UK legal system for first time”

On June 27th, 2013 a team of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies executed a drug raid at the home of Eugene Mallory, killing him while he lay in his bed and yelling “drop the gun” immediately after they shot him. There were no drugs on Mallory’s property and the nearly deaf old man hadn’t been holding a gun.   Continue reading “Cops Execute Old Man In His Bed, Find No Drugs”

If we think of them at all, we tend to think fondly of our Arizona Territory pioneers. In the shallow backwaters of our imagination, we apply common descriptive terms to their exploits as they settled the West. They were rugged, determined, courageous. But what does that mean in reality?

Most of what we know about their ruggedness, determination, and courage comes from Hollywood movies. We are so often exposed only to general, sanitized, sensationalized, or romanticized versions of pioneering. Think of the 1940 Western, Arizona, starring Jean Arthur and William Holden. Old Tucson was created to make this popular movie and the set played the part of the real Tucson ca. 1860.   Continue reading “A Fate Worse Than Death: How Pennington Street Got Its Name”

Some people have all the luck.  People in Connecticut, for example.  The state cops say they’re coming for the guns.  The matronly new chief says no, but the odious Lt. Paul Vance, the front man for the Sandy Hook lie factory, says it’s true and moreover, it’s un-American to oppose them in any way.   Not only that:  he said that he’s the master.  What the hell did that mean?

Let’s say Chief Grandma thinks she’s not lying.  If eighty percent of the people refuse to obey “the law,” what’s a gun cop to do?    They know you’ve got an “illegal” rifle or magazine, they know where you live.  Are they going to let it slide?   Continue reading “What is their plan for us?”

MICHIGAN — Hundreds of thousands of parents have been flagged as “child abusers” in a huge database maintained in secret by Michigan’s Child Protective Services (CPS) agency.   The names are entered into the database without due process, without a judicial hearing, without an opportunity for defense, without a conviction, and without even letting the individuals know they have been targeted.

The list is called the Michigan Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry.  It reportedly contains the names of 275,000 “abusive” parents currently in that state alone, as WXYZ reported.   Continue reading “Michigan CPS has gigantic secret list of parents labeled “child abusers” without due process”

To the legislators of the states of New Jersey and Rhode Island, upon the approach of your votes for firearm confiscation:

The firearm owners of your respective states tell me that you are busy men and women with short attention spans so I will try to make this brief, beginning with an instructive story from the history of my adopted state, Alabama. Some still tell it with pride in the hills of north Alabama. Like all the best stories, it has the advantage of being true.   Continue reading “An Open Letter to the Legislatures of New Jersey and Rhode Island: Are you seriously proposing to have your own skulls turned into soap dishes?”
