Oil and Gas – by Nick Snow

US Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) introduced an updated version of his earlier bill aimed at accelerating federal approvals of LNG export projects. The new measure accounts for the US Department of Energy’s proposal to revise the process for determining whether such projects are in the US national interest, he explained on June 18 (OGJ Online, May 29, 2014).

“Colorado’s natural gas has an important role to play in creating jobs and promoting global stability,” said Udall, who is a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee member. “By speeding up [DOE’s] review of pending [LNG] export facilities, my bill would cut red tape and complement the agency’s newly announced review process.”   Continue reading “Udall introduces updated bill to accelerate LNG export approvals”

Thousands of immigrants, most of whom are children from Central America, entering the U.S. illegally are overwhelming federal resources. Reacting to what has been labeled a “humanitarian crisis,” U.S. taxpayers are providing the illegal immigrants with housing, food, education, health care, recreation, vocational training, family unification, and even legal counsel. In the face of providing such amenities to the migrants, there are hundreds of thousands of  U.S. citizens–including families and children–who remain without a home or food.   Continue reading “Illegal Immigrants Treated Better than Homeless in US”

WASHINGTON (AP) – Two senators unveiled a bipartisan plan Wednesday to raise federal gasoline and diesel taxes for the first time in more than two decades, pitching the proposal as a solution to Congress’ struggle to pay for highway and transit programs.

The plan offered by Sens. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., and Bob Corker, R-Tenn., would raise the 18.4-cents-a-gallon federal gas tax and 24.4-cents-a- gallon diesel tax by 12 cents each over the next two years, and then index the taxes to keep pace with inflation. Warlord Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has seized control of another Iraqi provincial capital just a day of gaining power in the country's second biggest city Mosul. The Iraq government teeters on the brink of collapse this evening as Islamic jihadists led by a warlord considered ‘more virulent and violent than Osama bin Laden’ took control of a second city in as many days.

In a spectacular blow to the Shiite-led government, the militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (also known as Isis) and their allies seized oil-rich Mosul and surrounding Nineveh province followed by Tikrit where they freed hundreds of prisoners. There is now growing panic that Isis will move to take Baghdad, just 80 miles to the south.

BAGHDAD—Al Qaeda-inspired militants seized control of Iraq’s second-largest city on Tuesday in a brazen military operation that underscored the weakness of the Baghdad government across vast swaths of the country.

Hours after government forces fled Mosul in disarray following four days of fighting, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki declared a nationwide “state of maximum preparedness” but didn’t indicate whether government forces were mobilizing to retake the Iraqi city, 220 miles north of the capital Baghdad.   Continue reading “Militants Overrun Iraq’s Second-Largest City As Government Forces Flee”

A Second American Revolution Is Now InevitablePersonal Liberty Digest – by Brandon Smith

Just a couple days ago, two armed assailants, a married couple purported by the mainstream media to be “white supremacists” and “conspiracy theorists,”ambushed two police officers at a CiCi’s Pizza in Las Vegas, killing the officers and one bystander after screaming, “This is a revolution!” The suspects then reportedly covered one officer’s body with a Gadsden Don’t Tread On Me flag and then fled to a Walmart, where they committed suicide. Yes, it reads like a Southern Poverty Law Center fantasy story; and in many ways, it is.

As I write this, the MSM has not officially blamed any particular scapegoat group or political organization. But I suspect that they will follow the pattern they have always followed, which is to equate the actions of one or two psychotics with the beliefs and principles of the liberty movement in general.   Continue reading “A Second American Revolution Is Now Inevitable”

DARPA's Crusher Drives Itself, Laughs at Your Puny "Traffic"Gizmodo – by Andrew Tarantola

Picture, if you will, the self-driving Prius that Google invented—quiet, safe, sedate, room for five. Now imagine the exact, polar opposite—a six-wheeled, self-navigating robo-truck built for off-roading and ramming, a .50-cal machine gun on its roof, and room for zero. That’s the Crusher.
While Google has been testing autonomous cars for years now, no state has allowed cars to legally. Continue reading “DARPA’s Crusher Drives Itself, Laughs at Your Puny “Traffic””

The Justice Department is resurrecting a program designed to thwart domestic threats to the United States, and Attorney General Eric Holder says those threats include individuals the government deems anti-government or racially prejudiced.

The Domestic Terrorism Executive Committee was created in the wake of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing but was scrapped soon after the 2001 terrorist attacks as intelligence and law enforcement officials shifted their focus to threats from outside the country. The committee will be comprised of figures from the FBI, the National Security Division of the Justice Department and the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee.   Continue reading “Now thought crime is terror in U.S.?”

Pentagon, Intelligence officials used Top Secret intelligence to prevent previous release of Taliban Five, officials tell TIME

To pull off the prisoner swap of five Taliban leaders for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the White House overrode an existing interagency process charged with debating the transfer of Guantanamo Bay prisoners and dismissed long-standing Pentagon and intelligence community concerns based on Top Secret intelligence about the dangers of releasing the five men, sources familiar with the debate tell TIME.   Continue reading “White House Overrode Internal Objections to Taliban Prisoner Release”

Captured SoliderIt doesn’t matter if the guy was justified or not in not supporting the war. By walking off the base, he caused the death of numerous American Soldiers. He knew what would happen when he left. He knew that they would never stop looking for him. He knowingly caused the death of his fellow troops. He is no different than the government that sent him there. There are other ways to go about not participating in a war.
In my opinion he should have been left there.   Continue reading “Anger explodes over treatment of Bergdahl’s release as veterans, troops call him a deserter”

The National Security Agency is harvesting huge numbers of images of people from communications that it intercepts through its global surveillance operations for use in sophisticated facial recognition programs, according to top-secret documents.

The spy agency’s reliance on facial recognition technology has grown significantly over the last four years as the agency has turned to new software to exploit the flood of images included in emails, text messages, social media, videoconferences and other communications, the N.S.A. documents reveal. Agency officials believe that technological advances could revolutionize the way that the N.S.A. finds intelligence targets around the world, the documents show. The agency’s ambitions for this highly sensitive ability and the scale of its effort have not previously been disclosed.   Continue reading “N.S.A. Collecting Millions of Faces From Web Images”
