America’s cities are being bought up, bit by bit, by anonymous shell companies using piles of cash. Modest single-family homes, owned for generations by families, now are held by corporate vehicles with names that appear to be little more than jumbles of letters and punctuation – such as SC-TUSCA LLC, CNS1975 LLC – registered to law offices and post office boxes miles away. New glittering towers filled with owned but empty condos look down over our cities, as residents below struggle to find any available housing.  Continue reading “Unmasking the secret landlords buying up America”

A knife-wielding assailant stabbed four people in a rabbi’s basement synagogue in Monsey, NY during a crowded Hanukkah celebration Saturday night, according to a law enforcement source.

The suspect fled the scene in a 2015 Nissan Sentra, driving over the George Washington Bridge into Manhattan — and was promptly arrested by the NYPD at 144th Street and Seventh Avenue in Harlem at midnight, the source said. He was identified by a police source as Thomas Grafton, 37.  Continue reading “Monsey stabbing: Suspect in Hanukkah attack in police custody”

In a move which might seem asinine to some, several Wisconsin cities have completely banned throwing snowballs in public. Cops are apparently so hell bent on enforcing DUI laws that some of them are reportedly arresting folks for DUI—even if they are not driving. In Utah, there have been multiple instances of cops issuing DUIs to people who aren’t driving, and they are proud of it.

This insanity is the result of police officers’ interpretation of an ill-defined law. As KUTV reports, in Utah, a person cannot drive, operate, or be in “actual physical control” of a car while under the influence or alcohol or drugs. There are a lot of factors that are looked at to determine if a person is in “actual physical control” of the car.  Continue reading “Cops Give DUIs to People Not Even Driving a Car, Including People Using Uber”

If you’ve heard that Green New Deal supporters want to increase government control over all facets of life more than they want to protect the environment, well, here’s more evidence of that.

An assistant professor of urban planning at UCLA argues in the far-left magazine The Nation that California is doomed as long as people keep owning homes. Continue reading “Private homeownership interferes with fight against climate change, professor argues”

JURMALA, Latvia (JTA) — During the summer, the beaches of this Baltic resort city fill up with sunbathers in designer swimwear who stay long after sunset to dance and drink at dozens of seaside DJ stages.

Sometimes referred to as the Cote d’Azure of the former Soviet Union, Jurmala has some of the region’s priciest real estate, and its abundance of luxury car dealerships indicate its longstanding appeal to oligarchs and high-income travelers.  Continue reading “In Latvia, luxury synagogue opens in a beach resort for oligarchs”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed Sunday that efforts by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate alleged war crimes committed by Israeli forces in Palestinian-controlled areas were rooted in anti-Semitism.
