The Bakersfield Californian – by John Cox

A Canadian oil field services company appears to be the first in Bakersfield to carry out a mass layoff as a result of the recent collapse of oil prices.

Ensign Energy Services Inc. warned state officials earlier this month that it expected to release 700 people in Bakersfield effective Dec. 15, according to a website maintained by the state Employment Development Department.   Continue reading “Oil company lays off 700 in Bakersfield”

FORFEITURE-PHILAArmstrong Economics – by Martin Armstrong

Philadelphia prosecutors agreed Thursday to halt efforts to seize the homes of two of the lead plaintiffs in a widely publicized federal suit challenging the city’s use of civil forfeiture laws in drug cases.

Philadelphia drops a Civil Asset Forfeiture case to prevent any court from ruling just seizing people’s property is unconstitutional. Phily.COM has reported the case of Christos Sourovelis and Doila Welch, who were both caught up in having their homes seized to pay police pensions when the police arrested a relative they claimed was dealing drugs on their properties. Today, you basically have to shun relatives and never pick up a hick-hiker in trouble for if they have any drugs, even marijuana, there goes your assets.   Continue reading “Only the Rich Can Afford to Keep Their Homes”

A lot of people like to think they are “non-violent.” Generally, people claim to “abhor” the use of violence, and violence is viewed negatively by most folks. Many fail to differentiate between just and unjust violence. Some especially vain, self-righteous types like to think they have risen above the nasty, violent cultures of their ancestors. They say that “violence isn’t the answer.” They say that “violence doesn’t solve anything.”   Continue reading “Violence is Golden”

After a months-long hiatus, a special immigration program designed to attract recruits with certain skills will be up and running once more in the next several weeks.

Attorney Margaret Stock, an immigration lawyer and retired Army lieutenant colonel, said on Monday that the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest, or MAVNI, program could resume before the end of the year, but certainly in January.   Continue reading “Pentagon Set to Resume Special Foreign-born Recruiting Program”

Counter Punch – by Robert Fantina

It seems that Israeli Prime Murderer Benjamin Netanyahu is all in a dither because much of Europe seems on the verge of recognizing Palestine. At a meeting in early December with French President Francois Hollande, Mr. Netanyahu asked him to put a stop to a proposal being initiated by France’s Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, which calls for a two-year timetable for the establishment of a Palestinian state within the agreed-upon 1967 borders.

Mr. Netanyahu said this: “Such a move is contrary to a peace agreement, it will thwart all future negotiations and bring about an escalation.”   Continue reading “Is Time Running Out for Israel? Netanyahu in a Panic”

Day #2 HEREDay #3 HEREDay #4 HEREDay #5 HERE

To say the last 24 hours of research has uncovered significant information would be the understatement of the year.

We are going to attempt to share the discoveries and keep the text digestible, but the depth here is really consuming. So we’ll start with a troubling outline of the investigation and then share more alarming evidence of big trouble in a small town.   Continue reading “Mississippi Burning – Day #6 – The Murder of Jessica Lane Chambers Exposes Massive Problems In Panola County Mississippi…”

Forward Observer – by Samuel Culper

I just read an interesting article entitled, “Epic Landpower Fail,” in which the author, a US Army Major and strategy professor at West Point, makes the point that today all landpower is attributional.  What he means is that landpowers – armies – can be attributed to a specific country.  You can’t just mass a force in a foreign country without the entire world knowing to whom it belongs.  As we saw recently with Russians in Ukraine, even putting a small contingent of troops in a country is going to draw attention.  They may look different, act differently, or exhibit all those ‘C’ factors (Contrasts) that good analysts look for when identifying threat characteristics.  Those threat characteristics, or signatures, are going to lead analysts to believe that those men were/are Spetsnaz or FSB.   Continue reading “Non-Attributional Warfare”

TEL AVIV: Israel doesn’t expect a Syrian or Lebanese response to an airstrike in Syria attributed to Israel earlier this week since they are too tied up with that country’s bloody civil war and can’t afford to open another front, a senior Israeli military officer said Wednesday.

The officer said Hezbollah militants had the capability, but not the motivation, at this time to harm Israel and there was no “logic” to picking a fight with the Jewish state while it was knee-deep in battling a Sunni insurgency.   Continue reading “Israeli military sees no reaction to strike on Syrian territory”

One of the nation’s most prominent judges is urging states that have the death penalty to abandon lethal injection and switch to the “more primitive” but “foolproof” firing squad as their primary method of executing death-row inmates.

Alex Kozinski, chief judge of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, wrote ablistering critique of lethal injection in a dissenting opinion in the death-penalty case of Joseph Wood, an Arizona convicted murderer whose July 23 execution was delayed by a Ninth Circuit panel on Saturday.   Continue reading “Judge Kozinski: Bring Back the Firing Squad”

For those of you who think the title “Spy” or “Commando” or “Intelligence Analyst” are titles awarded only after traversing some mystical and shrouded training program, eating grubs to live, force rucking a thousand miles in 22 minutes – you are incorrect.  As with most things in our society, there is a notion that you are not an X until some guru ordains you to be an X.  Whether it’s a plumber, a car mechanic, a Rifleman – this is one of the most disappointing evolutions in modern America.     Continue reading “Virginia Hall”

The role of Jewish figures and that of the State of Israel in the Ukrainian crisis has not gone unnoticed considering that this community represents less than 1 percent of the population. However, a secret report in the hands of the Netanyahu administration confirms that Ashkenazi Jews do not originate from the Levant, but are the descendants of the Khazars. This little-known population founded a Jewish empire in the tenth century on the banks of the Black Sea. Therefore, some Zionists see in Ukraine a possible second Israel.   Continue reading “Israel’s Secret Plan for a “Second Israel” in Ukraine”

Cold weather presents two main challenges for people doing anything in the outdoors. If you live in an area where long deep freezes are normal every winter, such as Alaska, Michigan, or up state New York, then you probably already have all the winter gear you need and laugh at people who have to deal with 35 and raining for months on end. But for everyone else, who generally experience a winter between 0 and 40 degrees F, these are my thoughts on the matter.

Staying comfortable while doing strenuous activities.   Continue reading “Winter Is Coming. Thoughts on nasty weather gear.”
