The Hanford Nuclear Reservation, along the Columbia River in Benton County, was built in our own back yard in 1943 to produce plutonium as part of the top-secret Manhattan Project.

It continued operation during America’s campaign to build the biggest nuclear weapons arsenal in the Cold War, as well as producing nuclear energy. The last reactor stopped operating in 1987. Hanford was added to the Superfund list for long-term hazardous cleanup in 1989.   Continue reading “Time is of the essence at Hanford site | As It Turns Out”

I have been a broker for 20 years. Recently the major broker dealer I work for asked me and my clients to leave due to too high of a concentration in physical metals.

I am now in the process of moving my clients and metals to a new custodian. Here is where things get interesting: Every transfer is being rejected multiple times for the any reason the old major broker dealer can come up with.    Continue reading “20 Year Metals Trader: Every Metals Transfer Request from Major Broker is Being Rejected Multiple Times!”

The near-exponential spread of herbicide-resistant “superweeds” across U.S. farmland is reminding us all that no matter how much the Big 6 pesticide corporations invest in research and development, they can’t outsmart Mother Nature.

In just the past two years, the number of fields with glyphosate-resistant weeds has doubled. Farmers reported these particular superweeds on 61.2 million acres in 2012, up from 32.6 million acres in 2010. This, according to a new report by the agrichemical industry consultancy firm, Stratus.     Continue reading “Superweeds spreading at warp speed”

IRS Scandal: The inexplicable raid nearly two years ago on a guitar maker for using allegedly illegal wood that its competitors also used was another targeting by this administration of its political enemies.

On Aug. 24, 2011, federal agents executed four search warrants on Gibson Guitar Corp. facilities in Nashville and Memphis, Tenn., and seized several pallets of wood, electronic files and guitars. One of the top makers of acoustic and electric guitars, including the iconic Les Paul introduced in 1952, Gibson was accused of using wood illegally obtained in violation of the century-old Lacey Act, which outlaws trafficking in flora and fauna the harvesting of which had broken foreign laws.   Continue reading “Now The Gibson Guitar Raids Make Sense”
