“If Ukraine breaks apart, it will trigger a war,” warns a senior Russian government official. The FT reports Russia is prepared to fight a war over the Ukrainian territory of Crimea (where the largest ethnic Russian population lives and they have a military base). Conjuring images of the 2008 Russian invasion of Georgia, the official told the FT, “they will lose Crimea first [because] we will go in and protect [it], just as we did in Georgia.” The Kremlin regards the Georgian conflict as the biggest stand-off between Russia and the west since the end of the Cold War and it has fed determination in Moscow to push back against what it believes to be western attempts to contain Russia. On Wednesday, California Gov. Jerry Brown and state Democratic leaders announced a $687 million drought-relief bill that addresses a variety of causes and concerns the state has in confronting one of the worst droughts on record. The bill aims to help conserve water, clean up drinking water supplies, expand use of recycled water, and provide money for housing and food to those impacted by the drought and increase penalties for illegal diversions, amongst other measures. About $550 million worth of the money will come from existing bonds approved by voters, with no new taxes or fees proposed. Connecticut anti-gun politicians have a problem. After passing laws last year that require every gun owner who has a “high capacity” magazine or so called “assault weapon” to register those items with the state many refused to do so.
It has been estimated that anywhere from 20,000 to 100,000 gun owners refused to register their guns with their anti-gun government and many think those numbers could even be higher. This mass refusal to obey unconstitutional gun laws has surprised Connecticut officials. Perhaps they were expecting law abiding gun owners to willingly forfeit their rights while criminals did whatever they wanted. Tear Gas, also known as Capstun ‘capsaicin’ is the active oil in red peppers. If you don’t think something derived from a pepper can be as good as CN or CS tear gas, think again. Even if a person is maced, he can still function if he is motivated enough. Capstun is an irritant that will cause nasal passages to causing the person to breather through their mouth, in turn forcing them to inhale the capstun which causes an immediate reaction…choking. Capstun will effect the eyes with extreme irritation and .tearing. In addition to irritating skin, basically your skin feels like its on fire. A family in Georgia said this week that a police officer should never have killed 17-year-old Christopher Roupe because he was only holding a video game controller, not a gun as authorities have claimed.
According to WSB-TV, Roupe had been shot to death on Friday when Euharlee officers showed up at his home to serve a probation violation warrant on his father. The officer later told state investigators that she was forced to shoot because Roupe had pointed at gun at her when he opened the door. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on Wednesday ordered the cancellation of a plan by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to develop a national license-plate tracking system after privacy advocates raised concern about the initiative.The order came just days after ICE solicited proposals from companies to compile a database of license-plate information from commercial and law enforcement tag readers. Officials said the database was intended to help apprehend fugitive illegal immigrants, but the plan raised concerns that the movements of ordinary citizens under no criminal suspicion could be scrutinized. A member of the ruling faction in the European Parliament has come up with an initiative to impose sanctions against Russia that he said was supporting Ukraine’s regime. Russia has been in a waiting stance ever since the escalation on Tuesday, when Ukraine’s capital Kiev descended into more chaos.
