The Captain’s Journal – by Herschel Smith

In Senator Chris Murphy Versus Guns we discussed how Senator Murphy is playing the poll card with his colleagues.  The polls support us, he says.  But I pointed out that they don’t, and (via David Codrea) here is more evidence.

In an ongoing poll conducted of its membership by Gun Owners of America, 96.2% of over 18,500 respondents have thus far opposed Obama’s universal background check proposal. Continue reading “Senator Chris Murphy Runs Afoul Of Second Amendment”

The term “final protective fire” means the highest priority is given to this request due to the danger of a position being overrun. For the guy in the trenches, that means firing as fast as possible to break up a determined assault — even if that uses up barrels and ammo fast. If the FPF fails, there won’t be a “later” for those troops. Continue reading “Final protective fire”

Rolling Stone:

For gunmakers, the political fight over assault rifles and high-capacity pistols is about more than just profits – it’s about the militarization of the marketplace and represents a desperate bid by gunmakers to prop up a decaying business. The once-dependable market for traditional hunting guns has fallen off a cliff. To adapt, the firearms industry has embraced a business strategy that requires it to place the weapons of war favored by deranged killers like Adam Lanza and Jared Loughner into the homes and holsters of as many Americans as possible. “They’re not selling your dad’s hunting rifle or shotgun,” says Josh Sugarmann, executive director of the Violence Policy Center, a top industry watchdog. “They’re selling military-bred weaponry.” Continue reading “The Most Absurd AR-15 Article Ever”

Do senators and representatives even know what they just voted for on Thursday when they passed a piece of legislation? The bill included an amendment with egregious problems. The two worst ones are draconian cuts to the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP Office) and the endorsement of the decriminalization of prostitution for minors.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) attached his version of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2013 as Senate Amendment 21 (SA 21) to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) of 2013 (S. 47). Sen. Leahy originally introduced a version of this bill in the 112th Congress where it came up against opposition and died. Evidently aware that it could not stand on its own in the 113th Congress, Sen. Leahy added it to the Violenece Against Women Act (VAWA) and managed to sneak it past both the Senate and the House. On January 19th, I went to the rally at Senator Joe Manchin’s office in Martinsburg along with about 400 or so other West Virginians.  We expressed ourselves emphatically at that rally, and I have followed up with an email to Senator Manchin expressing my deep concern with his apparent willingness to sell out his constituents.  I doubt it will do any good, but I did  it. London, England-A new wealth tax is being proposed by the leftist wing (The Liberal Democrats) of our coalition government that will come with unprecedented powers to enter our homes and root through our personal possessions to value rings, necklaces, paintings and furniture, anything that might raise more taxes. If we refuse to be inspected or get our own valuations wrong, we would be facing fines, maybe even a jail sentence. Continue reading “Now they want our jewellery, paintings and furniture”

When Obama uttered those words, “..fundamentally transform America” I knew he meant it. It was Obama himself who stated (emphases added), “As radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least, as it’s been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the States can’t do to you; says what the Federal Government can’t do to you, but doesn’t state what the Federal government or State Government must do on your behalf.” (Barack Obama, June 18, 2001). The Last Resistance – by Mark Horne

Remember Blackwater from Iraq? Sure you do. In fact, the company has been worried about what you would remember. So they changed their corporate name from Blackwater to Xe Services and then to Academi. But they are still the same private freelance military—guns for hire.

Recently there was a news story that the Greek Parliament has hired them as bodyguards. In fact, even though the story just made some news in the US, it has been going on all month, and was reported by the Canadian media but was ignored elsewhere. Wikipedia has an un-footnoted description: Continue reading “Have Greek Politicians Hired Foreign Mercenaries For Protection From The Greek People?”

Utah Second Amendment Preservation Act Blocked by Committee ChairmanThe New American – by Joe Wolverton, II, J.D.

The Judiciary Committee of the Utah House of Representatives met Tuesday morning and there was one bill that curiously dropped from the agenda: House Bill 114.

House Bill 114 is the Utah Second Amendment Preservation Act and, if enacted, would prosecute “anyone attempting to enforce federal laws” restricting the right of Utahans to keep and bear arms. Continue reading “Utah Second Amendment Preservation Act Blocked by Committee Chairman”

Resistance movements generally begin with the desire of individuals, or small groups of individuals, to remove intolerable conditions imposed by an unpopular regime. Opposition towards the regime and hatred of existing conditions that conflict with the individual’s or the group’s values, interests, and way of life, spread from the individual (or group of individuals comprising the group), to family, close friends, and neighbors. You’re a farmer. Season after season, you watch your fields being taken over by Monsanto superweeds, which are resistant to the herbicide Roundup.

What are you going to do? You’re locked in. You’re buying your GMO seeds from Monsanto, and the food crops that grow from those seeds are supposed to be resistant to Monsanto’s Roundup, so that’s what you spray on your crops. The easy, relaxed lifestyle experienced by our ancestors no longer exists, and we’re not even aware of how much stress we’re under. The problem? “Our lifestyles have changed, but our bodies haven’t,” Dr. James Wilson said in his November lecture at the First Arizona Choices Exposition in Tucson, Ariz. A large portion of our population is feeling tired and stressed out, and we want to know why. The President has unleashed a furious sequestration assault...on himselfThe Examiner – by Barry Secrest

The President came out furiously swinging on his return from a golf vacation with Tiger Woods on Monday. However, the thing that has confused a significant proportion of both pundits and news watchers, is the fact that Obama is vehemently attacking a sequestration proposal that he, himself, put forth back in the 2011 debt ceiling negotiations.

In the proposal, The sequestration cuts, which are now required (but could have been avoided had an agreement been reached by mid-December of 2011), set forth a number of mandatory spending cuts that would be automatic if Congress granted any increase in the debt limit thereafter without making any cuts. Money Is A Form Of Social Control And Most Americans Are Debt Slaves - Photo by Serge Melki from Indianapolis, USABlacklisted News – by Michael Snyder

Is America really “the land of the free”?  Most people think of money as simply a medium of exchange that makes economic transactions more convenient, but the truth is that it is much more than that.  Money is also a form of social control.  Just think about it.  What did you do this morning?  Well, if you are like most Americans, you either got up and went to work (to make money) or to school (to learn the skills that you will need to make money).  Continue reading “Money Is A Form Of Social Control And Most Americans Are Debt Slaves”
