BESSEMER, Ala. — Bessemer police arrested a man after what was nearly a four-hour standoff at the man’s apartment complex.

BOSTON (AP) — A decorated Boston police officer remained in a medically induced coma Saturday, a night after he was shot in the face during a traffic stop that ended when other officers fatally shot his attacker, the city’s police commissioner said.

The 3,100 square-foot yellow house on a leafy street in Newtown, Connecticut, where Adam Lanza lived with his mother was demolished today. It was the same house where Lanza began his December 2012 rampage by killing his mother before driving to Sandy Hook Elementary School, killing 20 children and six adults before shooting himself.

Manafort Brothers of Plainville, Connecticut, volunteered to carry out the demolition. Contractors arrived on site Monday “and had the house down within two hours,” Newtown First Selectman Pat Llodra told ABC News.
