Just days after announcing the arrest of an intelligence officer on charges of spying for the United States, German authorities say they are investigating a second individual on suspicion of espionage. Federal prosecutors said yesterday that the individual in question is a German citizen and is under “initial suspicion of activity for an intelligence agency” of a foreign country.

They refused to provide further information and added that an arrest had not yet been made. But German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung said on Wednesday that the subject of the investigation is suspected of spying for the United States. The news comes less than a week after an officer of the BND, Germany’s main external intelligence organization, was found to have allegedly spied for the US Central Intelligence Agency for over two years.   Continue reading “Germany probes second case of intelligence officer who spied for US”

Washington Office on Latin America – by Adam Isaacson, June 2014

In February 2014, WOLA investigators paid a 12-day visit to several points along Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala. This visit was part of a larger project, begun in the second half of 2013, to monitor border security conditions, migration trends, and recent policy changes affecting this region.

Staff from WOLA’s Migration and Border Security Program have visited six sectors of Mexico’s 1,969-mile northern border with the United States since 2011, and we have reported from several of them. This is our first report on Mexico’s 714-mile southern border zone. It comes after several months of preparatory research—combing official documents, interviewing officials, and paying site visits—followed by our February research trip.   Continue reading “New WOLA report on Mexico’s Southern Border”

The southern border states of America are in tremendous chaos as hordes of hundreds of thousands of disease-carrying illegal aliens have been streaming in by the trainload. Any other president that I could think of – Republican or Democrat – would be attending all-night-strategy sessions to come up with a way to solve the problem, and that right quick.

But not this president, not Barack Obama. Instead of attending to this most pressing emergency, what does he do? He jets off to the pot capital of America, Denver, and shoots pool with the mayor, and pounds back some brew. Border crisis? What border crisis?   Continue reading “Amid Horrific Border Meltdown, Obama Jets to Denver to Drink Beer and Shoot Pool”

War in Context – by Paul Woodward

For several decades, thousands of Americans — some of them religious extremists, some ethnic supremacists and most believing that they have God on their side — have been traveling to the Middle East to fight in a foreign army notorious for committing war crimes and abusing human rights.

Americans are free to join the Israel Defense Forces so long as Israel does not declare war on the United States. There is no law that stands in the way of this kind of foreign military enrollment, even though some radicalized Americans who have followed this path went on to become terrorists.    Continue reading “Holder pushes for witch-hunt against potential terrorists”

She also spoke positively of using taxpayer-funded federal financial subsidies as payoffs to American companies, to keep them from relocating outside the United States.
