Stop the Drug War – by Phillip Smith

A drug court probation officer parties down with one of his clients, a Georgia cop goes to prison for ripping off a drug dealer, and so does a Philadelphia cop. Keep an eye on Philly. The stench is really rising there. Let’s get to it:

In Philadelphia, a former Philadelphia narcotics officer pleaded guilty Monday to attempted robbery and firearms charges for stealing $15,000 from a Southwest Philly drug dealer after planting cocaine in his car. Jeffrey Walker, a 24-year veteran of the department, also agreed to testify against his former colleagues in a widening federal probe of corruption in the dope squad, and his lawyer said his crimes paled in comparison with those of other implicated officers.   Continue reading “This Week’s Corrupt Cops Stories”

Zero Hedge – by  Tyler Durden

While it has gotten to the point where the propaganda is so bad on both sides of the Ukraine crisis, that any numbers thrown about are ridiculous, made up gibberish more fabricated than anything the Chinese Department of Truth or US Bureau of Labor can possibly goalseek, it is worth pointing out that according to APUkraine’s ambassador to the UN said 16,000 Russian troops are now deployed in the Ukraine. This was “revealed” at the third emergency Security Council session meeting in the last four days, shortly after Ukraine’s fugitive president requested Russian soldiers in the strategic Crimea region “to establish legitimacy, peace, law and order,” Russia’s U.N. ambassador said Monday, contradicting the president’s own comments last week.   Continue reading “As Russian Troops In The Ukraine Hit 16,000, US Department Of Defense Orders Them To Go Home”

Weather continues to cause trouble in the United States, as yet another powerful snowstorm is blanketing the mid-Atlantic region and the East Coast on Monday.

Much like previous storms, the latest is cancelling flights, clogging up roads, and knocking out power from Maryland and Washington, DC, to states as far south as Arkansas and Texas.

In DC, as much as 10 inches of snow is expected to drop in some areas, causing the federal government to close its doors for the day alongside schools. According to Reuters, Congress delayed votes as a result of the weather, though the Supreme Court was still expected to hear its scheduled arguments.    Continue reading “March snowstorm pummels East Coast, shuts down federal government (PHOTOS)”

Senator McCain Says, "We're All Ukrainians"The New American – by Jack Kenny

If Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) had been elected president, we might now be hearing an address from the Oval Office beginning with the salutation, “My fellow Ukranians.”

That would be us he would be addressing, because the senior Senator from Arizona has said “We’re all Ukranians” in response to the Russian invasion and takeover of parts Crimea. In an interview published in Time magazine’s political blog, named (appropriately enough) “Swampland,” McCain stopped short of calling for U.S. and NATO “boots on the ground” to counter Russian aggression in the disputed territory, but he did say the United States needs to “take certain measures that would convince Putin that there is a very high cost to actions that he is taking now.” Continue reading “Senator McCain Says, “We’re All Ukrainians””

Late on January 14, 2014, a retired teacher, a community involved, beloved man who spent over 35 years of his life teaching kids in the Custer, Michigan area, was shot in the chest by a state trooper and summarily died. The original news reports, which did not surface until about 10 hours later, were sometimes conflicting of what happened.

After these initial reports, which included neighbors and professionals he worked with telling us what a friendly and professional person he had been throughout his career, the public waited for some official word from the Michigan State Police, who were investigating the case concerning their own state trooper. The trooper’s name, James Luttrull, was withheld until the Prosecutor’s report came out over three weeks later, which found the trooper’s killing of Bill Marble justified. During this time, FOIA requests were ignored to get information to the public, the video provided cost over $100 and took over a month to procure.   Continue reading “Michigan State Trooper Shoots Retired Teacher in His Own Home”

Boston University BU, Andrew Bacevich, military spending decrease, smaller military defense budgetDissident Voice – by Brian J. Trautman

The Pentagon’s budget proposal for next year was announced last week by Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. In an interview with the New York Times, Hagel argued that to meet today’s national security needs, the Department of Defense (DoD) must shift its focus and capabilities away from “fighting grinding ground conflicts” and towards “new arenas of combat.” To achieve these ends, the budget calls for a realignment of the military that would reduce the total number of ground troops to its lowest level since 1940 and discontinue some military equipment deemed obsolete or unnecessary. According to Hagel, current levels of both assets are “larger than we can afford to modernize and keep ready.” The proposed budget also includes reductions in personnel benefits and base services, as well as base closings. The targeted cuts, however, are only one aspect of the budget. The other involves the new sources of priority spending.   Continue reading “Budget Realignment Reflects Pentagon’s Vision of Covert and Endless War”
