Breitbart – by ILDEFONSO ORTIZ
BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A bomb threat called in to Mexican authorities caused the temporary halting of traffic at the international bridge that connects the Texas border city of Brownsville with Mexico.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Mexican authorities received a bomb threat and ordered that traffic to the Veteran’s International Bridge in Matamoros be diverted while the Mexican military searched the area for any explosive devices, a Tamaulipas law enforcement official told Breitbart Texas.
Motorists looking to cross into Brownsville had to use the two other bridges for a period of about two hours until the Mexican military was able to confirm that the threat was a hoax.
“We have protocols in place to address these types of situations when they occur,” said U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Eduardo Perez, “We would not be able to address anything occurring on the Mexican side but we continue to be vigilant.”
CBP officers use behavioral analysis and other training to detect anything that may be out of the ordinary in travelers or vehicles in order to take appropriate action to ensure the security of the travelers and officers at the ports of entry.
