Recent Boko Haram attacks have left 11 parents of the 220 girls abducted by the group dead. In an attack on the Kautakari village by the Islamist militants, seven fathers of the missing girls were killed. A total of 51 villagers died in the attack on the village, which is loactedclose to Chibok.

In addition to the seven fathers, four other parents of the kidnapped girls have died due to illnesses caused by the trauma of having their daughters taken. The Russian military fired artillery rounds into eastern Ukraine on Thursday, a “clear escalation” of hostilities there, Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said.

Russia has about 12,000 troops on the border with Ukraine, Warren said. Russian tanks, artillery and rocket launchers have crossed into Ukraine to support separatists there.

BEIRUT: An Air Algerie plane crashed Thursday enroute from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algiers with more than 100 passengers onboard, an Algerian aviation official said. The plane had disappeared from radar Thursday morning, with at least 20 of its passengers Lebanese, a source at Lebanon’s consulate in Burkina Faso initially told The Daily Star, with officials later confirming the number.

NATO held an exercise code named «BREEZE 2014» that ended in Black Sea. The exercise, which included the use of electronic warfare and electronic intelligence aircraft such as the Boeing EA-18G Growler and the Boeing E3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), coincided with the shootdown of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 in eastern Ukraine, some 40 miles from the Russian border.

VERNAL — Twenty-one people from 10 states were arrested Monday during a protest that “became physical” at a controversial tar sands mine in northeastern Utah, according to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office.

Dozens of Ukrainian shells have exploded in Russia, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov told Russia 24 television on Thursday.

There are similar declines in the murder rates for the nations of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador though their murder rates remain higher than in Mexico. More than 100,000 people have been killed in Mexico’s Drug Wars. The Sinaloa Drug Cartel is allowed to bring drugs into America by the plane load. Buried in a Wall Street Journal article from about a week ago was a startling piece of information.  According to a Wal-Mart executive, Wal-Mart “participated in an exercise to prepare for an earthquake on the New Madrid fault line” earlier this summer.  And officials at the U.S. Geological Survey have just released a report which indicates that they believe that the New Madrid fault zone has the “potential for larger and more powerful quakes than previously thought“.  So should we be concerned?  Do they know something that we don’t?  The USGS also says that the frequency of earthquakes in the central and eastern portions of the United States has quintupled over the past 30 years, and that significant earthquakes have started popping up in areas of the country that were once extremely quiet.  Along with the new report, the USGS released the following map…   Continue reading “Why Is Wal-Mart Preparing For A Major Earthquake On The New Madrid Fault?”
