The citizenry, mimicking the Germans of the 1930s passively goes along with each of these baby steps, never quite chafing to the point of outright rebellion. The end result is a society that has made itself voluntarily monitored 24/7, agreed to centralized background checks just to exercise a Constitutional right, that has agreed to being either fondled or x-rayed by blue glove-wearing half-wits at airports. A new women’s garment company is developing a line of stylish rape resistant clothing. Have gender relations come to this?

The company, a little start up in Nyack, New York, is crowdfunding its project on Indiegogo and says on its website that it wants to make women feel safer wherever they are or whatever happens to them. To accomplish that, AR Wear is pretty much reclaiming the chastity belt with the mother of all control top pants. Each pair of boy-cut undies is secured with three bands, one around the waist and one on each leg that are very difficult to cut. The pants have a kind of impenetrable modesty panel to cover the business bits. There’s even a lock on the waist, which can only be unlocked using two hands (thus preventing the attacker from restraining his would be victim with the other). Moody’s Investors Service cut its ratings on four of the biggest U.S. banks after deciding the government would be less likely to help them repay creditors in a crisis.

Morgan Stanley (MS), Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS), JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) andBank of New York Mellon Corp. had their senior holding company ratings lowered one level yesterday after Moody’s concluded a review of eight U.S. banks that began in August. On November 9th, investigative journalist and human rights activist, John McNamer sent a request to the International Criminal Court to investigate Canada’s complicity in war crimes. McNamer argues that Canada has “actively and intentionally failed to comply with legal obligations under The Convention against Torture and the Rome Statue” (page 1).  McNamer’s submissions to the ICC include that Canada has transferred detainees to the United States and Afghanistan with full knowledge that the detainees would be in extreme danger of torture and that Canada uses and shares intelligence likely obtained through torture. Storms rolled in along the lakefront shortly after kickoff. A 7th grader from Beaumont, TX was knocked out by an assistant teacher from his math class last week.

In the end, their prayers and whatever little medical care doctors could muster in the typhoon-ravaged hospital were not enough. Althea Mustacia, aged three days, died Saturday. She was born on Nov. 13, five days after Typhoon Haiyan annihilated a vast swath of the Philippines, killing thousands.
