A gunman shot several people near a U.S. Navy base in Millington, Tenn., authorities say.

Fox13 reports that an employee of the base was relieved of duty today and is suspected of shooting at random people after going to his car. The suspect, an Army National Guardsman, is in custody, the Navy reported in a press release. Beginning this week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is evaluating state and local emergency planning and preparedness agencies’ abilities to respond to an emergency at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Lusby.

NASA has just set a new record for communication speeds in space by firing lasers at the moon and achieving download speeds five times faster than via the radio signals we currently employ for the task.

The information beamed by lasers on Earth was sent to a probe named Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE), launched last month with the aim of measuring the Moon’s hardly evident atmosphere while orbiting it.
