The arrests of several students who unwittingly and accidentally violated school weapon policies has some Georgian lawmakers saying “zero tolerance” makes zero sense.
A Cobb County high school senior was charged with the felony of bringing weapons into a school zone after police found fishing knives in a tackle box in his car. Cody Chitwood, a 17-year-old student at Lassiter High School and avid fisherman, turned himself in and was released on $1,000 bond. National parks facing federal furlough orders may be shutting down around the nation, but not so in Wisconsin.
Republican Gov. Scott Walker said he’s not closing the federal lands to visitors, in blatant defiance of the National Park Service’s demand, Breitbart.com reported. The federal agency had specifically ordered park officials in Wisconsin to close doors on Kettle Moraine, Devil’s Lake and Interstate parks, as well as sections of Horicon Marsh — sections that were owned by the state, no less — but Wisconsin authorities shunned the demand. The shutdown in during the Clinton Presidency cost taxpayers about $1.5 billion in 22 days. According to IHS Global Insight, the shutdown could cost the U.S. economy $1.6 billion per week — and NBC News reported that the shutdown would cost $12.5 million per hour. GRANTS PASS, ORE. – A 14-year-old boy on a deer hunting trip shot and killed two others in the hunting party at a cabin in the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon, then accidentally shot and wounded himself, authorities said Thursday.
Authorities would not say whether they think the shooting of the two men was an accident or intentional, or whether the shooting occurred inside or outside the cabin. WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Treasury has warned that the $16.7 trillion debt ceiling must be raised by Oct. 17th, to avoid a U.S. debt default. This warning has caused concerns amongst investors and citizens alike as most are unsure of their futures in this once great nation.
Based on a study of a previous debt ceiling impasse in 2011, the results won’t be good if figureheads in Washington can’t find a solution. The regional newspaper, which covers Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties, caused a national controversy 10 months ago for publishing the names and addresses of handgun-permit holders in Westchester and Rockland. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Thursday called out four Colorado Republicans in Congress who opposed a bill to fund disaster relief programs in his state, then turned around and pushed for federal aid when their state was hit by devastating floods.

Pennsylvania – Allegheny Valley, Fox Chapel Area and Riverview school districts briefly locked down some or all of their buildings this morning after a report that someone made threats against the districts.

Michael Hayden, a former director of the National Security Agency, defended the government’s use of targeted killings on Thursday.

Former National Security Agency Director Michael Hayden joked Thursday about putting Edward Snowden on a kill list.
Hayden noted that Snowden has been nominated for a European human rights award.
“I must admit, in my darker moments over the past several months, I’d also thought of nominating Mr. Snowden, but it was for a different list,” Hayden said during a panel discussion on cybersecurity hosted by The Washington Post. A longtime Ozarks tradition is taking a final bow.
The Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Theatre in Branson announced it will close on Oct. 19.
For 54 years, Harold Bell Wright’s epic story “Shepherd of the Hills” was performed.
“Rising costs in insurance and production, the new health care mandate and declining crowds are to blame,” read a press release posted Wednesday on the company’s Facebook page. “It is with a very heavy heart that we make this difficult announcement,” said Gary and Pat Snadon, owners of the park, said in a press release. “We have had an incredible run.” Continue reading “‘Shepherd of the Hills’ play to close”
They have been told for over two years this thing was a mess and they are surprised? Just goes to show that people only hear what they want to hear.
The launch of Obamacare has been a complete and total nightmare so far. The “online exchanges” are constantly crashing, there are endless glitches and delays, and many of the people that actually have been able to successfully register for an account are discovering that health insurance premiums under Obamacare are far higher than what they are used to paying.
