Washington, D.C. – A new report released by the Bipartisan Policy Center’s (BPC) Homeland Security Project today found that the most imminent threat to the United States is from individuals who are radicalized over the Internet, often inspired by al-Qaeda’s jihadist message. While these lone wolves might not be able to kill in mass numbers, the Boston Marathon bombings and the Fort Hood slayings show that alienated persons influenced partially by online messaging can cause great damage.

The report, Jihadist Terrorism: A Threat Assessment, provides a comprehensive review of al-Qaeda and its affiliates and provides legislative and executive recommendations on how best to counter the threat and protect the homeland. WASHINGTON — The federal government says it will declassify parts of a 2008 secret court order that required Yahoo to turn over customer data under the National Security Agency’s PRISM data-gathering program.

Washington, Oregon and Minnesota “could be the next battlegrounds” for the kind of gun control promoted by anti-gun billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns, according to a report in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal following Tuesday’s recall of two anti-gun Democrat state senators in Colorado.

In the aftermath of that political wake-up call, the Los Angeles Times acknowledged in an analysis by reporter Mark Barabas that gun control proponents want to make firearms less available. Negotiations between Russia and Syria on the supervision arrangement, which seem to have drastically reduced the likelihood of US-led military intervention in Syria, have been ongoing for two full weeks, and have also involved Iran, the Israeli Channel 2 report said.

Highly sensitive U.S. military equipment stored in Libya was stolen over the summer by groups likely aligned and working with terrorist organizations, State Department sources told Fox News — in raids that contributed to the decision to pull Special Forces personnel from the country.

The stolen equipment had been used by U.S. Special Forces stationed in the country.
