Check Your Stockpile: 228,614 pounds of SPAM Recalled

The Organic Prepper

Preppers and Spam go together like peas and carrots, right?  Well, for some preppers, anyway. And if you’re one of them, you need to go check your stockpile right now.

Hormel has recalled 228,614 pounds of the canned lunchmeat loaf because it may be contaminated with metal fragments. There have been complaints of minor oral injuries, but nothing more serious at this time.

The Spam in question was produced in February, so be sure to check your stockpile if you have purchased any of the items this year. The products were shipped throughout the US and Guam, and are thought to be more concentrated in the midwestern states. Hawaii, you’re all good. None of the contaminated containers were shipped to the 50th state.

Here are the products to look out for in your pantry:

  • 12-oz. metal cans containing “SPAM Classic” with a “Best By” February 2021 date and production codes: F020881, F020882, F020883, F020884, F020885, F020886, F020887, F020888 and F020889. These products were shipped throughout the United States.
  • 12-oz. metal cans containing “Hormel Foods Black-Label Luncheon Loaf” with a “Best By” February 2021 date and production codes F02098 and F02108. These products were shipped to Guam only.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 199N” on the bottom of the can. These items were shipped throughout the United States and to Guam. (source)

If you have any of the affected products, you should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. If you have questions, you can call Hormel at (800) 523-4635.

This is just the most recent in a long line of recalls. Last month, hundreds of thousands of eggs were called back for potential salmonella and a 35,464 pounds of ground beef was suspected to be contaminated with bits of plastic. More than 150 people have become ill from consuming romaine lettuce tainted with E. coli.

  1. Yes, we need more foreigners to work in our food industry, viva corporate USSA! Too poor to buy SPAM the last month so I guess that means at least what I have is safe for the time being… Bear in mind folks this is only the stuff they are FORCED to recall less they face a mass pandemic caused by their product, it also shows that if THAT quantity hit the market… Not only are they NOT testing ANYTHING at all but also that the food inspectors are not doing their job, at all!

Reminds me of the book Fast Food Nation only now we are on steroids for problems and as the spicks roll in our problems keep getting worse and worse as they take these jobs.
