In terms of purchasing power, China now has the largest economy on the entire planet, but that is not the only area where China has surpassed the United States.  China also accounts for more total global trade than the U.S. does, China consumes more energy than the U.S. does, and China now manufactures more goods than the U.S. does.  In other words, the era of American economic dominance is rapidly ending.  Global economic power is making a dramatic shift to the east, and that is going to have huge implications for our future.  We already owe the Chinese well over a trillion dollars, and as our economic infrastructure crumbles we are feverishly borrowing even more money in a desperate attempt to prop up our falling standard of living.  If we continue down this path, what will the future look like for future generations of Americans?   Continue reading “Not Just The Largest Economy – Here Are 26 Other Ways China Has Surpassed America”

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A state appeals court will decide in coming weeks whether chimpanzees are entitled to “legal personhood” in a case that could lead to expanded rights for animals such as gorillas, elephants and dolphins, according to the lawyer advocating for a 26-year-old chimp named Tommy.

Attorney Steven Wise argued before a five-member mid-level appeals court Wednesday on behalf of Tommy, who lives alone in a cage in upstate Fulton County. ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) — A man told police he poured vodka into the IV feeding tube of his girlfriend’s disabled 13-year-old son to settle him down, a dose of alcohol that contributed to his death, according to court documents released Wednesday.

Walter Richters and Melissa Robitille, both 38, were charged with second-degree murder in the Aug. 22 death of Isaac Robitille. They entered not-guilty pleas at their arraignment Wednesday afternoon in Caledonia County and were ordered held without bail. Accused cop killer Eric Frein described in disturbing detail what it was like when he allegedly shot two state troopers, killing one and injuring another, in a handwritten note found by a police dragnet in the Pennsylvania woods.

Frein, who has been on the run for nearly a month, appears to describe the murder of Cpl. Bryon Dickson in one handwritten letter.

“Got a shot around 11 p.m. and took it. He dropped. I was surprised at how quick,” Lt. Col. George Bivens said at a press conference today, reading from the note police believe Frein wrote. “I took a follow-up shot on his head-neck area. Despite protests from animal rights groups, the dog owned by a Spanish nurse diagnosed with Ebola has been put down, officials in Madrid said Wednesday. The animal will be incinerated.

The mixed-breed dog, Excalibur, had been left at Teresa Romero Ramos’ home alone by her husband, Javier Limón Romero, who is being monitored at a hospital for Ebola symptoms.
