WHY I CARRY: Father is Shot in Front of His Entire Family During Home Invasion

Guns Save Lives – by Dan Cannon

Here is another one of our “Why I Carry” stories. These stories, unlike our defensive gun use stories, take a look at situations that may have turned out very differently if the victim(s) had been armed.

These stories are the “other side of the coin” so to speak and serve as an important reminder as to why it’s important to take responsibility for your own personal safety.

This is also an important reminder of why it is important to keep a defensive firearm close at hand even while at home. Remember, 100% of home invasions happen in the home.

According to WSBTV,

A father is still in critical condition after being shot in front of his family during a home invasion Monday night, Fulton County police said.

Police said two masked men kicked in the back door of the 28-year-old man’s home Monday night on Sandbar Lane. The homeowner tried to fight off the men but was shot in front of his wife, mother and three children.

As always, I have to point out that a firearm may or may not have helped prevent or stop this crime. However, I prefer to have options whenever possible over simply begging for my life.

No arrests have been made and a description of the suspects is not yet available.
