NEW YORK (AP) — More than 30 years after hooded gunmen pulled a $6 million airport heist dramatized in the hit Martin Scorsese movie “Goodfellas,” an elderly reputed mobster was arrested at his New York City home on Thursday and charged in the robbery and a 1969 murder.

Vincent Asaro, 78, was named along with his son, Jerome, and three other defendants in wide-ranging indictment alleging murder, robbery, extortion, arson and other crimes from the late 1960s through last year. Preparing to deploy to combat terrorism, Special Operations Marines and sailors again are undergoing certification training in urban warfare in the New Orleans area, the military has confirmed. The training began Tuesday and continues through Jan. 28, but the nature of the exercises was not released publicly.

Similar training occurred in August, months after U.S. Special Operations forces underwent training in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing. As the Super Bowl approaches New York much like a blizzard, here are some things to think about: in 2012, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was paid $29.5 million to run the organization. And that’s not all. The NFL, if you didn’t realize it, exists as a 501 c 6 organization. It’s not for profit!

In order to have that status, the NFL must be run as a charitable foundation. In 2012, they gave away a meager $2.3 million.
