Brush and forest fires are raging all over the Pacific Northwest and northern California. The Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources attributes thirty to arson to date. These are not wilderness fires or wildfires, but are being set near and in towns on or close to the I-5 corridor.

As we have reported before on these pages, large numbers of the criminally mentally ill have been deliberately released from prisons and jails under the pretense of Covid-1984. COMPTON, Calif. — The shooting of two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies in an apparent ambush prompted a manhunt for the shooter, reaction from the president and protests outside the hospital where the wounded deputies were being treated Saturday night in California.

Wildfires continue to ravage the West Coast, including Oregon, where officials have evacuated 40,000 people from the blazes that have devastated millions of acres and destroyed thousands of buildings.

Clouds of mosquitoes have been so thick in southwest Louisiana since Hurricane Laura that they’re killing cattle and horses.

Farmers in a five-parish area east and northeast of the parishes where the storm made its landfall August 27 have probably lost 300 to 400 cattle, said Dr. Craig Fontenot, a large-animal veterinarian based in Ville Platte. One of the wildfires devastating Oregon forests is being probed as a possible arson after human remains were found as the death toll from historic blazes ravaging the West Coast climbed to at least 23, with dozens still missing early Friday.

My middle child has always struggled with lung issues. She is prone to asthma incidents and attacks after a triggering event. Such an event would be if she were to go swimming when the ambient temperature is very low.
