Police are conducting an internal investigation following a complaint made on behalf of an innocent 11-year-old girl who had a gun pointed at her and was detained during a stabbing investigation. The incident happened as the Grand Rapids Police Major Case Team investigated an attempted murder stemming from a Dec. 6 domestic-related stabbing in the 1300 block of Hamilton Avenue NW, a news release from the Grand Rapids Police Department states. Officers determined that the suspect fled the residence still armed with a knife and the investigation led to a second Westside Grand Rapids home where it was believed the suspect may have fled to. As officers were setting up a perimeter, three females, two adults and one 11-year-old, exited the home, police said. Police pointed a gun at the 11-year-old during the incident because all three women exited the house together and the two adults appeared to be caucasian in the evening light, GRPD Spokeswoman Cathy Williams said. The gun pointed directly at the 11-year-old was lowered as she approached, Williams said.

  1. “Police pointed a gun at the 11-year-old during the incident because all three women exited the house together and the two adults appeared to be caucasian in the evening light.

This explains their need to fire 40-50+ rounds to injure or kill someone.
