In light of Veterans Day, some quotes by Major General Smedley Butler

“There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights.”

“War is a racket. It always has been… A few profit – and the many pay. But there is a way to stop it. You can’t end it by disarmament conferences. You can’t eliminate it by peace parleys at Geneva. Well-meaning but impractical groups can’t wipe it out by resolutions. It can be smashed effectively only by taking the profit out of war.”

“I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in.”

“We must permit the youth of the land who would bear arms to decide whether or not there should be war.”

“I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.”

“Out of war nations acquire additional territory, if they are victorious. They just take it. This newly acquired territory promptly is exploited by the few – the selfsame few who wrung dollars out of blood in the war. The general public shoulders the bill.”

“I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else.”

      1. # WHIPS OUT RUSTY BARLOW POCKET KNIFE# AND SCRATCHES K+J ABOVE THE PENCIL HOLDER….. “ALSO MISS GALEN, I FOUND THIS QUOTE TO BE INTERESTING;
““We must permit the youth of the land who would bear arms to decide whether or not there should be war.”
I THOUGHT THE IDEA BEAT THE HELL OUT OF CONGRESS “DECIDING”…..
NOT THAT THEY INVOLVE THEMSELVES WITH SUCH TRIVIAL MATTERS ANY LONGER….

  1. “There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights.”

Wow! Absolutely TRUE. So Butler actually said this? I did not know this. I have so agreed with the many quotes you put up galen & frequently use “war is a racket.”

Thanks for this. If only these quotes were being blasted through the air at the veterans day celebration Trump was at. On the radio earlier today they played Trump saying something like we want to thank the bravest warriors that ever fought on the earth. I laughed!

    1. Thanks, Katie. Yeah, if only…

But we are blastin’ them out, giving them legs, wings, jet propulsion.

Just imagine what it will be like when NO ONE is willing to fight their wars.

      .

        1. “There are only two reasons why you should ever be asked to give your youngsters. One is defense of our homes. The other is the defense of our Bill of Rights and particularly the right to worship God as we see fit. Every other reason advanced for the murder of young men is a racket, pure and simple.”

There are so many though and all are poignant. I’ve asked marines that have come into my studio if they’ve ever heard of him and many have replied “yes”. I ask them if they’ve ever heard of his memoirs, and NONE have responded affirmatively. I then implore them to do so.

I’ve erased several paragraphs re Armistice day I just wrote regarding “service” . That is my respect I will give to the military. Not a stitch more.

Henry and co. do more to honor that oath daily in their pinky nail than they ever jagged o** to in blackhawk down.

Thank you for your service. And THAT goes out to those who DESERVE it.

        2. Thanks, Mark. It almost seems like his confession. I just can’t understand what took so long for his conscience to kick in. 34 years in the military, all the way to the rank of Major General. Well, at least he ended up on the side that’s exposing the corruption.

          .

          1. Hes the only one who had ever been this out spoken. It makes you wonder why? Who pissed him off, or what triggered all this? Especially after 34 years of being a mafia hit man?

Was he passed up? Did they not give him a pallet full of cash like they undoutably promised ?

I dont mean to sound problematic, it’s just nobody else but him has taken it this far.

IM DAMN GLAD HE DID! Very brave soul undoutably. BUT, he went along for years being a mafia hit man.

            Protecting his retirement, no doubt.

  2. “We must permit the youth of the land who would bear arms to decide whether or not there should be war.”

With all politicians’ sons at the front line.

“Out of war nations acquire additional territory, if they are victorious.”

Not so, in the case of Israhell.

It was just ‘handed over’ to the stinking jews by an ILLEGITIMATE so-called, self-proclaimed ‘global governing’ organization… posing as an AUTHORITY with the capability to do so.

    1. Regarding that quote about youth deciding if there should be war… I’d like to find it in context if I could, because I initially agreed with it. Then my husband read it and said: “Well okay, but what if they’re all propagandized and hopped-up for war.” He made a point.

      1. DAMN GOOD POINT. THE OUTCOME WOULD PROBABLY BE NO DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW, “OPERATIONS” IN ALMOST 100 COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE……..

  3. I like the statement that I think Butler made: The dollar gets bored with 6% interest at home, so it goes abroad where it can make 100%. Then the flag follows the dollar, and the soldier follows the flag.

      1. No, HELL NO! My great-great grandfather, John Brennan, brought his family here from County Roscommon in Ireland after an Gorta Mor. The scoundrel from the CIA is not from our tribe.

      2. Whoa, Mary, imagine if it really was THAT John Brennan – CIA, close assistant to the prez!!! What a heyday we would have. Verbal annihilation at its best.

        Actually, he’s probably been here.

        🙂

        .

    1. Thanks, John. That certainly is a circle that must be broken.

I’m seeing a lot of stirring among the youth, positive stirring, with so many different avenues. I believe it’s our job to direct them to The Bill of Rights and The Common Law. They do, and will love hearing their life is their own.
