KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Kansas City, Kansas police shot and killed a man they say was heavily armed Tuesday morning and shot at them. Police say the gunman also told a hotel manager he killed his wife and was headed to Legends Outlets with a military-style rifle.

An off-duty New York Police Department (NYPD) officer reportedly killed himself in Yonkers, New York, early Tuesday morning.

Update: The warden of the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) where Jeffrey Epstein died has been temporarily reassigned to the Bureau’s Northeast Regional Office by Attorney General William Barr, according to a Tuesday statement by the Justice Department. Meanwhile, two prison employees who had been assigned to Epstein’s unit have been placed on administrative leave pending ongoing investigations, according to CNBC. NEW YORK (Reuters) – A New York woman who said she was sexually assaulted by Jeffrey Epstein at the age of 14 sued the disgraced financier’s estate and a former associate on Wednesday, in the start of an expected wave of lawsuits.

Portland, Ore., is gearing up for a set of dueling rallies this weekend that is expected to bring an informal coalition of right-wing groups– some of which have been decried as white nationalists and white supremacists– and so-called anti-fascists, who have violently opposed these right-wing demonstrators.

An East London council banned a charity bike ride raising money for Palestinian children from using its public parks, internal emails revealed last week.

Tower Hamlets council in London last month prevented a bike ride raising awareness of the plight of the Palestinian people from using space in one of its parks. We now know that the council feared that this advocacy for Palestine would violate the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s working definition of antisemitism (UK council refused to host Palestinian event over antisemitism fears, 3 August). This use of the IHRA definition demonstrates the real threat to freedom of expression that it represents, ignoring its protection in our national rights legislation. A BART police officer shot and wounded a dog Friday in front of Civic Center BART station on Market Street around 1:10 p.m, according to BART.
