Police Have Killed One American Every 8 Hours In 2015

Opposing Views – by Michael Allen

While politicians warn America every day of an impending attack by the terrorist group ISIS, police in the U.S. are killing one American every 8 hours.

According to the online database Killed By Police, 136 people have been killed by American police from Jan. 1 to Feb.15. The database is citizen-run because there is no federal law requiring local police departments to report how many people they kill.

The Free Thought Project notes those numbers mean that one American is killed every eight hours by a police officer.

In contrast, Canada had only 14 citizens killed by police in 2014, and in the UK only one person was killed by police for 2013 and 2014. Germany fared even better with no police killings from 2013 to 2014. Even the much larger China had only 12 police killings in 2014.

The Officer Down Memorial Page, an online database that tracks police deaths in the U.S., listed no killings of cops by suspects in 2015; there have only been fatal accidents and health problems.

When it comes to ISIS, The Washington Post notes that the terrorist group has killed four Americans.

President Obama recently asked Congress for authorization to wage a three-year war on ISIS.

  1. Much safer here were we do have rebels in the area. Muslim, & other bandits. Than being in America around what they have for police. And less likely to be beat here as well than in America by there police. A American cop here would not last 6 months on the job and be fired or gone. That is there better police.

      1. I’m curious, too. From past comments, it sounds like a place I would like to visit. I think he mentioned it in the comments, way back when, but I don’t recall the area. It’s nice to know the general location (w/o being specific on the open web) of commenters. In the early days of the Trenches, we all posted the state (in some cases country) where we reside after our online moniker. (I was more specific using NYC, rather than NY. ) 😉

  2. There is a solution to this thuggery but few seem willing to go there as the retribution is likely fatal. Still it must start somewhere with someone who no longer fears the outcome. Hopefully, others will join together to stop this madness.
