Prince Dead at 57

TMZ

The artist known as Prince has died … TMZ has learned. He was 57.

Prince’s body was discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early Thursday morning.

Multiple sources connected to the singer confirmed he had passed. We’ve obtained the emergency dispatch call for a “male down, not breathing.”

The singer — full name Prince Rogers Nelson — had a medical emergency on April 15th that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois. But he appeared at a concert the next day to assure his fans he was okay. His people told TMZ he was battling the flu.

At the show, Prince prophetically told the crowd, “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers.”

42116-sub-prince-instagram-02Prior to his most recent appearance however, Prince had cancelled two shows due to health concerns.

Prince became an international superstar in 1982 after his breakthrough album “1999.”

He went on to churn out a ton of hits — and racking up 7 Grammys in the process. He also performed at the Super Bowl in 2007 … in one of the greatest live performances of all time.

He also sold more than 100 million records during his career … and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for Purple Rain in 1985.

Prince was married two times — the first time to his backup dancer Mayte Garcia. They split in 2000. He then married Manuela Testolini … but they split in 2006.

He was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and performed a legendary version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” to close the ceremony.

  1. OK I will say it. Prince was alright. Missy and I used to listen to his stuff in the early years. Purple rain, when doves cry. Not my favorite but good for the time. I prefer my my southern rock but he was Ok.
Now why can’t Madonna, Miley and the rest follow suit?

    1. I’ll own up to liking a couple of Prince’s songs. Now, I wouldn’t buy (or even bother downloading) any of his stuff, since it’s far from any of my preferred styles of music. But when certain Prince songs come on the radio at work or wherever, I can get into them a little bit.

“1999” is probably my favorite Prince Song. I remember getting a chuckle at the two dykes playing the keyboards in that video back when I was a kid.

Regarding Miley et al., I just have to say that 99% of today’s pop music SUCKS. It’s been hopelessly corrupted by money, much like the US political system. Record companies choose new musicians for aggressive marketing and promotion primarily on the basis of their looks, perceived sex appeal, outrageous eccentricity, and/or overall trendiness. Musical talent and creativity take a back seat most of the time. This why everyone knows who Miley Cyrus is, but few non-musicians have even heard of phenomenally talented individuals such as Allan Holdsworth.

Having said all that, at least as much fault for the sad state of popular music lies with the tasteless and sheeplike general public as with the record companies and their musical puppets. If more people insisted on buying good music regardless of what crappy prolefeed was pushed on them, eventually the record companies would start marketing good music.

  2. Hmm. The King of pop and The Prince taken out in a relatively short period of time. No report yet on his cause of death. Will a Queen be next? Or another princess like Diana?I have no idea. I tend to think that anybody that reaches or is given the level of success that Prince had, is not associated/knowledgeable with the evil business side and those who rule that industry. I won’t and can’t say that Prince made a deal with the devil or his offspring=the Jew/Kazars who control music. But these super Icons are brought to this celebrity status by them. But there have been and continue to be Celebrities that know the evil going on and because they get to that place of disgust, have to speak out. When Michael Jackson spoke out, when JFK spoke out etc. They are taken out.

  3. Wonder if they’ll “send him off” in a funeral pyre in a burning Baltimore Walgreen’s….

Other than that, I couldn’t care less.
