The thing about the False Flags that Pirates flew before they engaged an ‘enemy’ sailing vessel was that it told the other ship she was friendly; but the Pirate ship’s True Colours (The Skull and Bones) was always hoisted before any shot was fired… Garbage cans? Backpacks?
