HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. —

A gunman shot a local sheriff and a deputy on Sunday and killed a woman and possibly another person, Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents said.

Investigators said the shooter is dead.

Habersham county manager Phil Sutton told Channel 2 Action News that the gunman shot Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell and Deputy Bill Zigan.

Investigators told Channel 2’s Rachel Stockman that the shooter, identified as Anthony Giaquinta, is a former officer from the Gainesville Police Department.

When Stockman and her photographer arrived at the scene, they said there was a heavy police presence around the home.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to Giaquinta’s home on a report of a domestic dispute shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

  1. “A gunman shot a local sheriff and a deputy on Sunday and killed a woman and possibly another person,…”

DAMN! It would be former cop. Only non-cops were killed, apparently. Another failed shooting by a (former) cop.

I’ll put my money on ex-military any day of the week.

  2. Another “see I told you so”, it wouldn’t be long before these psychos turned their guns on each other, they always do.

  3. Well, well, well, Joey Terrell, the sheriff with the jail racket, in the news again. Karma only gave you a little kiss this time, Joey.
