River In China Mysteriously Turns Bloody Red Overnight

Yahoo News – by Yazhou Sun

A waterway in eastern China has mysteriously turned a blood red color.

Residents in Zhejiang province said the river looked normal at 5 a.m. Beijing time on Thursday morning. Within an hour, the entire river turned crimson. Residents also said a strange smell wafted through the air.

“The really weird thing is that we have been able to catch fish because the water is normally so clear,” one local villager commented on China’s microblogging site Weibo.

Inspectors from the Wenzhou Environmental Protection Bureau said they have not found the cause of the incident, although water samples seem to indicate the suspicious color was a result of illegal dumping in the river.

“We suspect that somebody dumped artificial coloring in the water because he thought the typhoon yesterday would cause heavy rain, and nobody would notice [the color],” Jianfeng Xiao, Chief of the bureau told China News.

“It turned out there wasn’t heavy rainfall yesterday, so the evidence is left behind,” Xiao said.

Xiao said there is a paper manufacturer, a food coloring company and clothing-maker a long the river. The bureau is still investigating the incident.

  1. Wow! Now that is freaky. Has the plague begin? Although I’m sure this isn’t the first time this has happened in China. God only knows what’s in their water.

    1. Probably another chemical plant that blew up. That’s usually the norm in China when something turns a different color.

    1. Yea I remember that. And of course the mainstream media tried to conjure up crazy ideas in order to continue demonizing them, just like they do with every other country that our foreign government in occupation doesn’t like.

    2. Correct Wade. It’s similar to what we have had on the Atlantic Coast called “Red Tide”; or the concentration of dead microbial organisms killed-off by the lack of oxygen in the water. I saw this in the 1960’s as a kid in New Jersey, and I was really pissed-off that we weren’t allowed to swim in the Ocean.

I expect to see more of this on the East Coast now that Obama has allowed offshore oil/gas drilling there. The Atlantic (especially the Outer Banks, NC) is the last USA coastal region where we can enjoy fishing and swimming, after poisoning the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean.

      1. Not limited to the East Coast, Inretrospect. Used to watch the waves here in So. Cal light up at night (phosphorous) during red tide, on acid. Wow!!!

  2. This is why the so-called ‘government’ is selling OUR water to China.

Due to their rampant manufacturing, they have some of the most polluted water on the planet.
