A Texas Department of Public Safety police officer was killed in the line of duty on Thanksgiving while conducting a routine traffic stop in Freestone County, authorities said. Freestone County is about 90 miles southeast of Dallas.
According to Texas DPS officials, trooper Damon Allen was returning to his patrol vehicle at about 4 p.m. following the stop when he was shot by a rifle. Allen was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Continue reading “Texas trooper shot and killed during routine traffic stop”
The FBI has removed thousands of people who are wanted by authorities from a criminal background check database that stops them purchasing weapons.
The law enforcement agency moved in February to narrow its definition of a “fugitive from justice.” That definition now only applies to wanted people who have crossed states lines,The Washington Post reported. The $700 billion 2018 National Defense Authorization Act that Congress sent to President Donald Trump’s desk on Nov. 16 included an amendmentthat required the Secretary of the Army to transfer a cache of small arms and ammo “no longer actively issued for military service” to the government-sponsored Civilian Marksmanship Program, including the M1911 and M1911A1 pistols, the M–1 Garand, and .22 rimfire rifles. One month after a mysterious radiation cloud was observed over Europe, whose source remained unknown last week speculation emerged that it may have been the result of a “nuclear accident” in Russia or Kazakhstan, on Tuesday Russian authorities on Tuesday confirmed the previous reports of a spike in radioactivity in the air over the Ural Mountains. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Charles Manson, the hippie cult leader who became the hypnotic-eyed face of evil across America after orchestrating the gruesome murders of pregnant actress Sharon Tate and six others in Los Angeles during the summer of 1969, died Sunday after nearly a half-century in prison. He was 83.
Manson, whose name to this day is synonymous with unspeakable violence and madness, died at 8:13 p.m. of natural causes at a Kern County hospital, according to a California Department of Corrections statement. Continue reading “Charles Manson dies at 83”
Jerusalem (AFP) – Israel’s cabinet voted on Sunday to close a migrant detention centre, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced an agreement to deport 40,000 Africans who entered the country illegally.

Nov. 19 (UPI) — A U.S. Border Patrol agent died Sunday after sustaining injuries while in the Big Bend Sector, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
Agent Rogelio Martinez and his partner were responding to activity while on patrol near Interstate 10 in the Van Horn Station area in Texas when his partner reported they were both injured and in need of assistance, CBP said in a statement. In a stunning turn of events following Judge Navarro’s order that the prosecution turn over all evidence regarding video and agents at Bundy Ranch in 2014, reports are coming out the evidence that was not allowed to be presented in the previous two trials was shown to the jury on Wednesday and that evidence basically shutdown the prosecution from any rebuttal.
In a video report from John Lamb and Kelly Stewart, who attended the trial and have been reporting on it live from Nevada, said that such evidence as photos of snipers surrounding the Bundy house four days ahead of the impoundment, unlike the prosecution claimed, and photos of Bureau of Land Management agents with guns trained on protesters, as well as other acts of aggression by the BLM. When the first Oregon Standoff trial of leaders of the early 2016 protest ended with not guilty verdicts for all seven defendants plus the tackling, tasing and arrest of Ammon Bundy’s defense attorney Marcus Mumford, the jury was then taken to a meeting with US District Judge Anna J. Brown.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The gunman who killed his wife and four others in a rampage in Northern California this week found an easy way around a court order prohibiting him from having guns: He built his own at home.
Kevin Neal, 44, was armed with what authorities believe were two high-powered rifles that he made himself when he opened fire Tuesday on homes, cars and an elementary school around his tiny hometown of Rancho Tehama Reserve. The House on Thursday passed legislation to overhaul the tax code, moving Republicans one step closer to achieving the top item on their legislative agenda.
The measure was approved by a vote of 227-205. No Democrats voted for the bill, while 13 Republicans broke ranks to oppose it.
