Police in Texas are searching for a gunman who opened fire on a freeway in Houston during the evening rush hour Thursday, killing a driver and his passenger.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man who was “full of anger” went on a two-hour stabbing and robbery rampage in Southern California, killing four people and wounding two others, authorities said Wednesday.

(Bloomberg) — As mass shootings revive the U.S. debate over gun policy, the Supreme Court is weighing whether to go forward with a Second Amendment showdown for the first time in a decade.
The justices in January said they would hear a challenge to New York City rules that sharply limited where licensed handguns could be taken while locked and unloaded. Three city handgun owners said the regulations were the most extreme firearm-transportation restrictions in the country. ARLINGTON — An Arlington police officer took just seconds to fire three shots — one of which fatally struck a woman — after a dog started running toward him Thursday afternoon, body-camera footage shows.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The gunman who opened fire on a California food festival killed himself after officers shot him multiple times, officials said Friday, correcting previous police accounts that the officers fired the fatal bullet.

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The use of force by police to subdue Markeith Loyd — the fugitive suspected of shooting an Orlando police officer to death — was justified, according to Phil Archer, state attorney for Brevard and Seminole counties in Florida.
The Jan. 17, 2017 arrest, which was captured on video, showed four police officers punching, kicking and striking Loyd in the face with the muzzle of a rifle as Loyd, wearing a bulletproof vest, was lying in the street. One person is dead and at least five were injured in central Kentucky after a gas line ruptured and produced a fireball that could be seen around the region early Thursday.

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Newly-released security video from May 9, 2018, shows the moment a man shot and killed a customer in a Phoenix Circle K store, before holding nine other customers hostage. The victims then tackled the suspect and were able to escape.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — A gunman described as a disgruntled Walmart employee fatally shot two co-workers and wounded a police officer before he was shot and arrested Tuesday at a Walmart store in northern Mississippi, authorities said.
Southaven Police Chief Macon Moore said the man, whom he did not name, shot a Southaven police officer, who was protected by a bulletproof vest and suffered minor injuries. The chief said a second Southaven officer shot the suspect, who was then taken for surgery to a hospital in neighboring Memphis, Tennessee. New York is extending the waiting period to buy guns from three days to 30 days to allow more time for background checks under a law approved Monday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The pro-gun safety law is a response to a rash of shootings across the nation.

Capital One Financial Corp., the fifth-largest U.S. credit-card issuer, said Monday that a hacker accessed the personal information of approximately 106 million card customers and applicants, one of the largest ever data breaches of a big bank.

Police say someone got out of a car and opened fire on a 68-year-old man who was approaching a synagogue near Miami.
Miami-Dade police detective Alvaro Zabaleta tells news outlets someone got out of a black Chevrolet Impala around 6:30 p.m. Sunday and shot the man multiple times in the legs near the front door of the Young Israel of Greater Miami Temple. Santino William Legan has been identified as the 19-year-old suspect accused of killing three people and wounding several others in a mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California, according to CBS News. The shooting Sunday night on the final day of the annual charity event at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy left three dead, 12 injured and the suspected shooter, Legan, killed by police.
