Air strikes hit a hospital in a rebel-held area of Syria’s Aleppo and killed at least 27 people, including three children and the city’s last pediatrician, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday.
A new wave of aerial bombing on Thursday on rebel-held districts of the city killed at least 30 more civilians, a rescue worker said. The Observatory put the toll at least 20.

Federal immigration authorities last year released 19,723 criminal illegal aliens back onto U.S. streets who have been convicted of 64,197 crimes — including 208 homicides.

(MIAMI) A former Florida Power & Light manager traded nuclear information from the company for cash to assist one of China’s top nuclear power companies, according to federal court records unsealed in Tennessee last week.
The unnamed former FPL employee was recruited by Szuhsiung Ho, also known as Allen Ho, to help China General Nuclear Power Co. develop special nuclear material in China,according to the grand jury indictment unsealed April 14 in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Tennessee in Knoxville. A massive fire in Canada has engulfed the CN Rail trestle bridge in the community of Mayerthorpe, Alberta. An investigation is underway as this is the 17th suspicious fire in the last six days.

CHICAGO (AP) — Dennis Hastert, the Republican who for eight years presided over the House and was second in the line of succession to the presidency, was sentenced Wednesday to more than a year in prison in the hush-money case that included accusations he sexually abused teenagers while coaching high school wrestling.

The UN Security Council has rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim that the annexed Golan Heights in Syria would “forever” remain under Israeli control.

At first blush, it sounds like your typical sports celebrity meet and greet. Avi Herman, 10, and his brother, Jonah, 7, were waiting patiently for Odell Beckham, Jr. to arrive. Before the New York Giants wide receiver came, there was a football clinic where a few NFL coaches gave throwing pointers to the some 100 kids gathered around. After about two hours, Beckham—he, of the now-iconic meme catch—finally showed up and was promptly mobbed, by both children and their parents alike. Most of the 32 cases of fireworks believed to have been stolen in transit have now been recovered thanks to a tip, officials said Saturday, although no arrests have been made in the case.
A senior law enforcement official said Friday 32 cases of commercial grade fireworks were reported missing and were believed to be stolen from a CSX train shipment that originated inChicago and ended in Detroit. The train went through Ohio, where officials believe the fireworks may have been stolen. The explosive material was discovered missing Thursday and was reported to authorities. Authorities say four federal agents suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot while trying to make an arrest at a Kansas motel.
Police say two U.S. marshals and an FBI agent were shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries Saturday night in Topeka. A fourth federal agent also suffered the same injuries, but it was not immediately clear to which agency the officer is assigned. All four were taken to hospitals. Recognizing the possibility of a contested convention in Cleveland this summer, Republicans are considering an electronic system to capture votes on what could be a contentious set of procedural motions leading up to nominating a presidential candidate.
The Republican National Committee agreed Thursday not to change the rules of the convention at this point, but is exploring changes to the way that delegate votes are recorded.
