GARDEN GROVE – A 13-year-old boy was booked into Juvenile Hall after police said he brought a handgun to school on Monday.
Officers responded to a classroom at Jordan Intermediate School around 9:40 a.m. Monday after a report that a student had a loaded gun in his backpack, said Lt. OPAL, Wyo. (AP) — A small town in southwest Wyoming was evacuated Wednesday after an explosion and fire at a natural gas processing facility and major national pipeline hub. There were no reports of injuries.
The gas has been shut off, but people who were in Opal, about 100 miles northeast of Salt Lake City, went to an area about 3 miles outside of town as a precaution, said Lincoln County spokesman Stephen Malik. The move would begin to place restrictions on e-cigarettes, a nearly $2 billion industry thatfor years has operated outside the reach of federal regulators. If adopted, the government’s plan would force manufacturers to curb sales to minors, stop handing out free samples, place health warning labels on their products and disclose the ingredients. Makers of e-cigarettes also would be banned from making health-related claims without scientific evidence.

Two Georgia parents who are refusing to allow their children to participate in the state’s standardized tests were confronted by a police officer and told they were trespassing on school grounds when they attempted to meet with administrators and express their opposition to the exams last week.
Mary and Tracy Finney oppose their children taking the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests and had initially sent an email to administrators asking if they could opt out. The “Tortoise and the Hare” is an Aesop fable about a hare who ridicules a slow-moving tortoise and challenges him to a race. The egotistical, pompous hare takes off and is so confident he will win, the hare decides to take a long nap. When the hare awakens he finds out, much to his dismay, that the slow moving, patient tortoise has won the race.
While the Nevada “endangered” desert tortoise has slowly been winning the Bureau of Land Management race in Nevada, a napping “Harey Greed” has been mysteriously becoming a multi-millionaire on his $193,400 Senate salary. Could it be that Harey is using his position of power to regulate the Nevada law to benefit himself, his family and his political crony capitalists; rules and regulations that enable the government to seal off public land that has been used agriculturally for decades? No doubt inspired in part by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who called supporters of the Bundy ranch “domestic terrorists,” a number of liberals on Twitter expressed their desire to see the ranch and its supporters killed by drone strikes, Paul Joseph Watson reported at Infowars Monday. Such a raid would, of course, kill innocent children as well as men and women, but it seems that didn’t matter to those demanding the deadly raid.

An elderly Missouri man dialed 911 and asked for an ambulance to come and help his ailing wife. Instead, the police showed up, threw him to the ground, sat on his head and handcuffed him.

The United States Marine Corps is looking for a few good actors to play terrorists in upcoming training exercises, putting out a casting call that could give clues about what the Pentagon is prepping for.
A solicitation put out this month by the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command sought an actor to play an “Al Qaeda personality,” a French-speaker with a college degree in chemistry and three men who could play “high value insurgent” roles. Just one day after the deadline for owners of assault weapons to register their firearms, a Supreme Court justice upheld the constitutionality of the controversial SAFE Act — a set of stricter gun regulations adopted by the state in January 2013 following a shooting in Newtown, Conn. that left more than two dozen dead.
Among other measures, the SAFE Act ensures universal background checks; banned the sale of assault weapons; and required those already in possession of such firearms to register them with the state by April 15. While Second Amendment advocates say it violates personal freedoms, the legislation has been upheld in courts, most recently by state Supreme Court Justice Thomas McNamara in a case brought by Bob Shulz of Queensbury. More than half of Americans (54 percent) consider the federal government a threat to individual liberty rather than a protector, a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found.

RAINS COUNTY, TX — A man says that when he called police to report that his home had been burglarized, he waited hours for an officer to arrive — only to witness his dog promptly being shot in the head by the responding deputy. He says when backup arrived, they mocked and intimidated him with a taser.
On April 18th, Cole and Jayna Middleton discovered that their home had been broken into. Several items had been stolen, including the family’s firearms.
