On April 9, Michael Bloomberg delcared his friend Jeb Bush the best GOP candidate for president.

To be precise, Bloomberg cited Bush and Hillary Clinton as the only truly “worthy” candidates, in his view.

According to The New York Times, Bloomberg was attending a party in his honor after receiving an honorary knighthood from from Queen Elizabeth II. No parent expects to find a small piece of glass in their jarred baby food, but that’s exactly what happened to one consumer of the Beech-Nut brand.

The incident was immediately reported and now Beech-Nut has issued a voluntary recall of nearly 2,000 pounds of product that were shipped nationwide and may be contaminated with small glass pieces, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). Texas on Wednesday night executed Manuel Garza Jr. by lethal injection for killing a police officer, the second time in less than a week the state has put a convicted cop-killer to death.

Garza, 34, was pronounced dead at the Texas State Penitentiary at Huntsville at 6:40 p.m., the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said. OAKLEY, MI — A name commonly heard shouted over a rap/rock mix of drums, bass, guitars and turntables is one that the village of Oakley fought to keep quiet for years.

Robert James Ritchie, known by the stage name Kid Rock, is listed on an application for the village police reserve force that Hemlock Attorney Philip Ellison received in the mail from Oakley earlier this month.

Opponents of legalizing marijuana can’t be happy about several new polls released Tuesday. Majority support for making cannabis legal is holding steady, while young adults are legalization’s biggest fans. And that’s true both nationally and in several swing states.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Police said Tuesday they were investigating the fatal shooting of a gay community college worker as a possible hate crime.

The shooting victim, 44-year-old campus print shop director Ron Lane, was gunned down by former student Kenneth Morgan Stancil III on Monday morning, police said. Percy Sledge, the R&B singer whose soulful ballad of eternal love and rejection, “When a Man Loves a Woman,” topped the charts in 1966, died on Tuesday in Baton Rouge, La. He was 74.

His death was confirmed by Artists International Management, which represented him. Mr. Sledge had liver cancer, for which he underwent surgery in 2014, Mark Lyman, his agent and manager, said.

A Manhattan woman who said “I do” to as many as 10 different men is facing criminal charges because she didn’t legally say “I don’t” anymore, and may have been married to as many as eight men at the same time, according to Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson.

The U.S. Capitol Building was on lockdown Saturday for 2 1/2 hours after a man killed himself outside, officials said.

The unidentified man shot himself and was “neutralized,” Lt. Kimberly Schneider said in an email to reporters.

There are more than 120,000 personalized license plates available in Texas. Safeer Hasaan has had one on his Lamborghini for the last three years, according to KPRC.
