At a House hearing yesterday, experts warned members of Congress that a North Korean EMP attack could kill 90% of Americans within one year, calling it an “existential threat.” But despite this looming crisis, the Department of Defense has just defunded the Congressional committee that has been studying the threat since 2001

The Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack has been around for nearly two decades, but their efforts have mostly been restricted to making sure that the U.S. national command authority and U.S. strategic forces could continue to function. Meanwhile “no major efforts were then thought necessary to protect critical national infrastructures.” Apparently, the plan was that our defense would be so effective, no further steps were needed.   Continue reading “If a North Korean EMP Could Kill 90% of Americans in a Year, Why Did the DoD Just Defund the Congressional EMP Commission?”

Colleges and universities are breeding grounds for the Radical Left, encouraging Antifa violence and would-be Communist revolutionaries. That sounds outrageous, but it’s absolutely true. More and more, we’re hearing stories about instructors supporting Antifa, leading “resistance” groups, and making genocidal comments about white people. The Radical Left has taken over the higher education system.

It’s pretty hard to hope for unity when our halls of higher education are hard at work creating a generation of young people who hate everything for which America stands. The backward logic used to sway the feelings and opinions of students is obvious to us, but to younger, idealistic people without experience in the real world, it can seem like these instructors are brilliant souls marching to the beat of a drum so escalated that mere mortals can’t even hear it, much less understand it.   Continue reading “How the Radical Left Has Taken Over Higher Education: 7 Professors Who Promote Violence”

The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”  ~ George Orwell

A few years back, I was doing some research about the aftermath of some natural disasters that took place here in America. I was shocked to find that the articles I was looking for – ones that I had read in the past – were pretty hard to find, but articles refuting the sought-for pieces were rampant.  Not just one event, but every single crisis aftermath that I looked up, had articles that were written after the fact stating in no uncertain terms that the hunger, chaos, and unrest never happened.   Continue reading “The Disaster Myth Narrative: No One Panics, No One Loots, No One Goes Hungry”

Very little sounds more unsettling than the risk of catching “the plague” but most of us think this is just something that was around during the Middle Ages because of poor hygiene. Unfortunately, that’s incorrect, and to prove it, there is an epidemic of the pneumonic plague in Madagascar right now.

We all remember reading about The Black Death during history lessons in school. It was a horrific pandemic that nearly wiped out Europe, killing a disputed number of people that ranges between 50 million and 100 million. Also known as the pneumonic plague, here is a quick video to get you up to speed on your medieval history.   Continue reading “The Pneumonic Plague Killed 50 Million People in the Middle Ages and Now It’s Back”

I’ve gotten a few comments lately asking why I write about current events. I’ve gotten every variation from “I follow you for prepping information. Why is there so much news on your website?” to “You’re an idiot. Why don’t you stick to canning?”

Before I hurry back to the kitchen where I belong, there’s a short answer and a long answer. Here’s the short one: Prepping and current events are inextricably entwined.”

If you only wanted the short answer, there you have it. Thanks for stopping by.   Continue reading “Why Prepping and Current Events are Inextricably Entwined”

Of a tragic necessity, we’ve all read articles and watched videos about surviving an active shooter terror situation. But an entirely different set of rules apply when it comes to surviving a sniper attack.

The thing with an event like the one in Las Vegas is that a great deal of your survival depends on nothing but luck. If you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, skills won’t necessarily save you.   Continue reading “How to Survive a Sniper Attack”

Things are dire in Puerto Rico. We haven’t heard much directly from people there since Hurricane Maria took out power for the entire island, but what we do know is that the situation is desperate. This is a shocking, real-life glimpse into what it’s really like when the S hits the fan.

I saw a post from a friend of a friend who has family in Puerto Rico. I don’t have permission to share names, but here’s what she said:   Continue reading “Puerto Rico: What It’s Really Like After the SHTF”

It looks like preppers aren’t that crazy after all. FEMA’s new director, Brock Long, has repeatedly said that Americans do not have a “culture of preparedness,” something that is much-needed with the startling uptick in natural disasters. Long has only been the director of FEMA since June 20 of this year and already has had to deal with a historic number of disasters in this short period of time.

It appears that Mr. Long has a mindset of self-reliance based on a couple of recent statements he has made to the media, but the MSM doesn’t seem too interested in his ideas about fostering a culture of preparedness, despite the practicality and essential nature of his suggestions.   Continue reading “FEMA Director Urges Americans to Develop “a true culture of preparedness” But No One Is Listening”

In a press conference in New York City, Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho says that the US has declared war on North Korea, giving them the right to shoot down US bombers in international airspace.

“The whole world should clearly remember it was the U.S. who first declared war on our country…Since the United States declared war on our country, we will have every right to make countermeasures, including the right to shoot down United States strategic bombers even when they are not inside the airspace border of our country.” (source)

The warnings may be coming too late for the eastern United States as Hurricane Maria pushes Northwest. Whether Maria will be a tropical storm or hurricane when she hits North Carolina remains to be seen, but it’s almost certain that some kind of major storm will strike tomorrow with direct force. Unlike Harvey and Irma, the third hurricane in a month won’t have a week-long warning period for people to get prepared. Meteorologists have been uncertain up until now whether the storm will affect the coast or head harmlessly out to sea and have said that a hit is unlikely up until now.   Continue reading “The Third Hurricane in a Month: Last Minute Warnings Issued for North Carolina and the East Coast”

According to some analysts, Americans may be overly confident in our military’s ability to shoot down North Korean missiles if the country were to attempt to strike. Maybe the reason we haven’t shot down North Korea’s test missiles is that we can’t. While we all certainly hope that our military would be able to successfully defend the country against incoming missiles, we need to be prepared for any possibility.

According to an article by Joe Cirincione of Defense One, the reason we don’t shoot down North Korea’s missiles when they fire them over Japan is because…

We don’t have the capability.   Continue reading “Are We Really Capable of Shooting Down North Korean Missiles?”

It seems like no one can catch a break this hurricane season. Many islands, including the US territory of Puerto Rico, are taking a second hit from Hurricane Maria just over a week after Hurricane Irma tore through the region, and in their already weakened state, the damage could take out the power indefinitely.   Continue reading “Hurricane Maria Could Take Out Power in Puerto Rico Indefinitely and It’s Too Late to Prepare”

Hundreds of thousands of homes in Florida are still without power more than a week after Hurricane Irma barrelled through on her destructive path. And, unfortunately, there’s no clear end in sight for them, as infrastructure was so thoroughly destroyed in certain areas. With an average temperature in the 90s, days in Florida are miserable indeed for those without power.   Continue reading “Many Florida Residents Have Been Without Power for More Than a Week and There’s No End in Sight”

The government of South Korea is making every effort to turn its citizens into a country of survivalists. With the ever-increasing threats from the North, South Korean preppers are becoming mainstream, instead of a quirky fringe element.

Just last night, Kim Jong Un fired yet another ballistic missile over Japan, spitting in the face of international pressure. It seems difficult to imagine that he’s going to just eat a Snickers and chill out. So wisely, his closest neighbors are preparing for the worst.   Continue reading “South Korean Preppers: Government Instructs Citizens How to Get Ready for War”

Preppers often wonder what it would be like if everything was destroyed in a disaster. After Hurricane Irma devastated the Caribbean, it didn’t take long before society began to devolve. There’s no food, no water, and armed looters are running amok.

The island of Barbuda saw 90% of their homes and structures destroyed by the hurricane, while on other islands, the destruction was more like 70%. The infrastructure is absolutely destroyed. Electricity and fresh running water are gone in most places for the indefinite future.   Continue reading “All Hell Has Broken Loose in the Caribbean in the Aftermath of Hurricane Irma”
