SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the city of Sioux Falls is closing most city facilities to public access effective at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020. This closure will remain in effect through Monday, March 30, 2020.

City Center and City Hall join the list of previously closed city facilities for public access. Carnegie Town Hall will close to the public except for public meetings. Previously scheduled public meetings and bid letting planned for City Hall or City Center will be relocated to Carnegie Town Hall. WASHINGTON — A federal government plan to combat the coronavirus warned policymakers last week that a pandemic “will last 18 months or longer” and could include “multiple waves,” resulting in widespread shortages that would strain consumers and the nation’s health care system.

Facebook is blocking users from posting some legitimate news articles about the novel coronavirus in what appears to be a bug in its spam filters.

On Tuesday, multiple Facebook users reported on Twitter that they found themselves unable to post articles from certain news outlets including Business Insider, BuzzFeed, The Atlantic, and The Times of Israel. NASA’s Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) is currently tracking two asteroids that are expected to approach the planet next week. According to the data gathered by the agency, the two asteroids are expected to intersect Earth’s path.

The first asteroid that’s expected to cross the planet’s orbit is known as 2020 EF. As indicated in CNEOS’ database, this asteroid is currently flying across space toward Earth at a speed of over 10,000 miles per hour. It has an estimated diameter of about 98 feet. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Mayor Paul TenHaken declared a state of emergency in the City of Sioux Falls Thursday in response to the COVID-19 presence in the community. A declaration allows the mayor to convene an emergency meeting of the City Council.

At an emergency city council meeting just hours ago an ordinance was unanimously passed to adopt the emergency declaration.This now limits large gatherings of people within Sioux Falls in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
