TOMBSTONE – UPDATE: According to a statement released by Border Patrol, Border Patrol agents returned fire when a male driver shot at them after colliding with traffic barriers at the immigration checkpoint located at the intersection of State Route 80 and State Route 82 Wednesday afternoon.

– Roger Ailes, who built Fox News into a cable powerhouse before leaving the company last year, died at the age of 77.

The Ohio-born television pioneer was a confidante of presidents and an acknowledged master of communications. He founded Fox News in 1996 and built it into the nation’s long-running No. 1 cable news network Ailes resigned from Fox in July amid charges of sexual harassment. Ailes left Fox News under a cloud of controversy last August. The sequence of events that led to his departure began when Gretchen Carlson sued him fter her contract as a daytime Fox host was not renewed. FBI agents arrested an Arizona man last week for threatening to shoot Rep. Martha McSally, a Republican who represents the same Arizona district Gabrielle Giffords represented when she was shot in the head in 2011.

Steve Martan, 58, left three separate expletive-laden messages on McSally’s congressional office voicemail in early May, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in a U.S. District Court in Tuscon. A woman was handcuffed and detained by a man impersonating a police offer on Tucson’s east side Friday.

The woman was driving in a residential area near East Broadway and North Wilmot Road at about 8 a.m. when she was stopped by a man she believed to be a member of law enforcement, according to a news release from Tucson Police.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection will notify the finalists over the next few days.

An oldies country music radio station east of Tucson serving a rural Arizona area that aired a public service announcement for two years telling people how to hide potential evidence in child pornography cases has stopped doing so after advertisers received threats, the station’s owner said Wednesday

KAVV-FM owner Paul Lotsof said in an interview that he does not like child pornography but created the announcement because he thinks Arizona’s 10-year minimum sentence for each image of child porn is too harsh and costly for taxpayers.

NACO, Ariz. (AP) – The final panel new border fencing has been installed along 7.5 miles along the U.S.-Mexico border near Naco in southeastern Arizona.
