As tensions come to a boil in Syria over an alleged chemical attack, thousands of U.S. troops and Marines will be gathering in neighboring Jordan for the start of a major training exercise.
Nearly 3,600 U.S. troops, including Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or MEU, will be in place Sunday for the start of a nearly two-week training exercise known as Eager Lion, military officials confirmed to Marine Corps Times.

Actress Heather Locklear pleaded not guilty Thursday to five misdemeanor charges stemming from a Feb. 25 incident at her Thousand Oaks home, prosecutors said.
The 56-year-old former “Melrose Place” star did not appear in Ventura County Superior Court for the arraignment. Her attorneys, William Haney and Blair Berk, entered the plea on her behalf, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Tom Dunlevy, the prosecutor assigned to the case. California’s effort to get 16- and 17-year-olds to pre-register to vote has now enlisted 100,000 teenagers, according to information released on Friday by Secretary of State Alex Padilla.
