Raw Story – by Lisa O’Carroll

Seymour Hersh has got some extreme ideas on how to fix journalism – close down the news bureaus of NBC and ABC, sack 90% of editors in publishing and get back to the fundamental job of journalists which, he says, is to be an outsider.

It doesn’t take much to fire up Hersh, the investigative journalist who has been the nemesis of US presidents since the 1960s and who was once described by the Republican party as “the closest thing American journalism has to a terrorist”.   Continue reading “Seymour Hersh on death of Osama bin Laden: ‘It’s one big lie, not one word of it is true’”

Unbeknownst to most Americans the United States is presently under thirty presidential declared states of emergency. They confer vast powers on the Executive Branch including the ability to financially incapacitate any person or organization in the United States, seize control of the nation’s communications infrastructure, mobilize military forces, expand the permissible size of the military without congressional authorization, and extend tours of duty without consent from service personnel. Declared states of emergency may also activate Presidential Emergency Action Documents and other continuity-of-government procedures which confer powers on the President, such as the unilateral suspension of habeas corpus—that appear fundamentally opposed to the American constitutional order. Although the National Emergencies Act, by its plain language, requires the Congress to vote every six months on whether a declared national emergency should continue, Congress has done only once in the nearly forty year history of the Act.  — Patrick Thronson, Michigan Journal of Law (2013, Vol 46).   Continue reading “Modern Day America: One Step Away from the Third Reich”

South America 2008 (15)Left Hook – by Dean Henderson

I’ve seen more than a few bizarre US election campaigns in my life. In 2004 when Barrack Obama won his Illinois US Senate seat, I won the Democratic primary for Congress across the big muddy river in Missouri’s 8th District.

I lost the general election to Republican Jo Ann Emerson’s Corporate PAC-Money Machine- she raised $1 million to my $17,000. Refusing to accept corporate money, I never had a chance, but we stirred it up and built a more progressive Democratic Party in Missouri’s 8th Congressional District.   Continue reading “Republican Actors/Illuminati Directors”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed criticisms by the United States and the European Union (EU) of the Zionist regime’s plan to build more than 1,000 settler units in the occupied Palestinian lands.

“I’ve heard the claim that our construction [of 1,060 new settler units] in Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem (East al-Quds) distances peace. It’s this criticism that distances peace. These statements are detached from reality,” the Israeli premier said on Tuesday.   Continue reading “Israel dismisses US, EU criticisms of settlements plan”

The battle for hearts and minds is on and the elite are getting fed up with citizen proles who believe it a right to speak freely and openly about their ideologies and criticisms of government policies.

Their attempts to control the agenda and conversation have repeatedly been met with protests, both online and off, as traditional mainstream audiences migrate by the millions to alternative media and citizen journalism.   Continue reading “Police State Targets Dissidents: Government To “Impose Extreme Disruption Orders On Individuals””
