A California man was arrested this week for allegedly threating to bomb Merriam-Webster’s offices and kill its employees over the dictionary publisher’s definitions for women, federal prosecutors said.
Jeremy David Hanson, 34, of Rossmoor, California, was charged on April 20 with one count of interstate communication of threats to commit violence for alleged online threats that he sent to the company in October, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts. A man opened fire from his apartment window in a “sniper-style” shooting in Washington, D.C., on Friday, injuring four people, before the suspect took his own life.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law on Friday that terminates all special districts that were enacted in Florida prior to 1968, including Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District. The new law will remove Disney’s tax privilege and special governing status.
The Reedy Creek Improvement District, which was created by state lawmakers in 1967, is the governing jurisdiction and special taxing district for the land of Walt Disney World Resort. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Three Knox County area senators voted in favor of a Tennessee bill that would effectively criminalize homelessness. Those senators include Richard Briggs (R – Knoxville), who said he thinks unhoused people simply shouldn’t be sleeping outside in poor conditions.
It is already illegal to sleep or camp on state-owned property. The bill would expand that prohibition to any property owned by local governments, making it a felony. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and 24 of their peers on Tuesday launched the American Governors’ Border Strike Force, aimed at grappling with a deepening illegal migration crisis at the southern border under the Biden administration.
A news release announcing the new group came a day after a March report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection; that report noted the highest level of migrant southern border crossings in more than two decades: a robust 221,303.
