Money Is A Form Of Social Control And Most Americans Are Debt Slaves - Photo by Serge Melki from Indianapolis, USABlacklisted News – by Michael Snyder

Is America really “the land of the free”?  Most people think of money as simply a medium of exchange that makes economic transactions more convenient, but the truth is that it is much more than that.  Money is also a form of social control.  Just think about it.  What did you do this morning?  Well, if you are like most Americans, you either got up and went to work (to make money) or to school (to learn the skills that you will need to make money).  Continue reading “Money Is A Form Of Social Control And Most Americans Are Debt Slaves”

Common Dreams – by Public Citizen

WASHINGTON – February 25 – Was a $100,000 inaugural contribution linked to a utility’s newfound optimism about receiving an $8.3 billion federal loan guarantee?

We need more information to answer that question, but it sure seems fishy.

A Southern Co. executive told an audience at a Washington, D.C., conference last week that he is “newly optimistic” about receiving an $8.3 billion loan guarantee to build new nuclear reactors at a Georgia plant. The executive vice president of nuclear development, Joseph Miller, said he thinks the company can seal the deal by mid-year. I’ve written about this twice, first in January 2011, and again on February 4th, 2013. When Bloomberg News reports the government is “weighing” a role in “helping Americans manage” their 401(k)s and when that government arm, The US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, says it is “exploring and are interested in terms of whether and what authority we have,” it’s reason to pay attention. The following is from Rush Limbaugh today, and following his statement are other confirming information and links: Continue reading “Govt Claims 401(k)s Through “Office of Older Americans?” – Senate Hearings Already Held: National Retirement Accounts”

According to unnamed officials quoted by Israel’s Channel 10, President Obama is planning to inform Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of his intention to attack Iran this summer, with June beginning the “window of opportunity” for his next war.

Secretary of State John Kerry said in a press conference earlier today that time is “running out” for diplomacy, and it seems that the next P5+1 talks are being set up as the “last chance” for Iran to give in to assorted US demands before being attacked. Immigrant DetentionHuffington Post – by Elise Foley

WASHINGTON — Immigration and Customs Enforcement released some people from immigrant detention facilities across the country on Monday in response to looming federal budget cuts.

“In order to make the best use of our limited detention resources in the current fiscal climate and to manage our detention population under current congressionally mandated levels, ICE has directed field offices to review the detained population to ensure it is in line with available funding,” agency spokeswoman Gillian Christensen said in a statement. The Israeli government awarded a local subsidiary of U.S.-based Genie Energy the rights to explore for oil and natural gas in about 150 square miles of the southern section of the Golan Heights. The United Nations last year extended the mandate for the region’s U.N. Disengagement Observer Force mission, one of the oldest peacekeeping missions, for another six months. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said keeping Blue Helmets stationed in the area was essential to peace given the potential for conflict spilling out of the Syrian civil war.

Genie Energy said there may be a significant amount of oil and natural gas in the license area. When Israel set its sights on offshore natural gas, Hezbollah warned that Israel shouldn’t encroach on Lebanese territory. If recent concerns about Hezbollah’s influence are any indication, the Shiite resistance movement may focus its guns onshore amid expanding Israeli energy interests. With former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney serving as an adviser to Genie, however, the implications may go beyond immediate worries over Hezbollah. The number one thing that could stand between you and freedom just might be your food supply.

Have you ever been really, truly hungry?  I don’t mean the kind of hunger triggered by a juicy steak on a TV commercial.  I don’t mean the “Dang, I skipped breakfast and it’s an hour until lunch” type of hunger.  I mean the kind of hunger where you haven’t eaten a full meal in a week and your cupboard is now down to a dented can of green peas and 6 stale saltines…for a family of four. In the latest twist and turn to take place on the issue of gun control in the nation, the U.S. Supreme Court may decide to hear a case that could make it illegal to carry a concealed weapon.

This comes after a Federal Appeals Court in Illinois decided that a person’s right to carry a concealed weapon is not protected under the Second Amendment. Colorado, however, recently refused to reconsider a previous ruling that the state’s ban on concealed carrying is unconstitutional. Because of the contradiction, it’s predicted that the country’s highest court will be forced to rule on the constitutionality of it once and for all. On average there are about 11,000 firearm homicides every year. While there are deaths resulting from accidental discharges and suicides, this document will focus on intentional firearm homicides. Fatalities from mass shootings (those with 4 or more victims in a particular place and time) account on average for 35 fatalities per year. Policies that address the larger firearm homicide issue will have a far greater impact even if they do not address the particular issues of mass shootings.
