RICHMOND-The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed modifications to the Clean Water Act definitely will expand the federal government’s regulation of agriculture land uses, according to Donald Parrish, senior director of regulatory relations for the American Farm Bureau Federation. That’s despite EPA statements that existing exemption for agriculture operations will remain intact.

“The EPA is sticking to their talking points. They’re saying they’re not expanding jurisdiction, Parrish said. “But for the first time ever, EPA is defining ditches as tributaries. This really does blur the distinction between land and water. And Congress didn’t intend that.   Continue reading “Farm Bureau: Proposed EPA water regulations won’t exempt farmers”

Often, I have tuned into Patriot broadcasts, such as  www.FromtheTrenchesWorldReport.com  or www.gyotbr.com  (Grow Your Own: The Budding Revolution with Joe from the Carolinas) to listen to tips on surviving a possible economic collapse scenario.

Patriots have called in to voice concerns regarding being able to harvest organic seeds that have not been irradiated, GMO-modified, or in some way, sterilized.  Fear has been in their tales and it should not have been.     Continue reading “Of Birds, Bees, and Mice”

Scores of undocumented immigrants from Central America have been released at Greyhound Lines Inc. bus stations in Tucson and Phoenix over the past several days after they were flown to Arizona from south Texas, officials acknowledged.

Andy Adame, a spokesman for the Border Patrol in Tucson, confirmed that over the weekend federal officials flew about 400 migrants apprehended in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas to Tucson to be processed. He said the migrants were flown to Arizona because the Border Patrol does not have enough manpower to handle a surge in illegal immigrants in south Texas.   Continue reading “Scores of undocumented migrants dropped off in Arizona”

Washington (AFP) – US lawmakers moved to boost funding of the national background check system for firearm sales, a small but symbolic step toward broader gun law reform following recent mass shootings.

The measure would provide $19.5 million to help states submit records to a federal database aimed at preventing felons and the mentally ill from buying weapons.    Continue reading “US House moves to bolster gun background checks”

(Albuquerque Journal) The homeless man shot and killed in the Sandia Foothills in mid-March was shot three times, including in the lower-left back, and had no illegal drugs in his system, according to an autopsy and toxicology report released by the Office of the Medical Investigator on Thursday.

James Boyd was seen on helmet-cam video as officers tried to coax him out of the foothills for camping illegally. He brandished two small knives at officers but appeared to surrender and begin walking down the hill when officers shot at him. Jacksonville has seen this horror show too often in recent years.

A spike of violent crime.

Leaders mobilize.

Police saturate neighborhoods.

Add prevention and intervention to the mix.

We called this the Jacksonville Journey. But it never reached its funding targets. The Great Recession took care of that.   Continue reading “Operation Ceasefire: City knows how to reduce violence”

Oil pulling is a process of swishing an edible oil around the mouth for between 10 and 20 minutes, ideally upon awakening, for detoxification purposes. Its origins lie in the Ayurveda, the ancient healing system of India, and countless people from all backgrounds swear by it. In fact, if one believes the online reports written by those with first-hand experience of oil pulling, there doesn’t seem to be any condition that it can’t at least improve.    Continue reading “Studies show that oil pulling can kill harmful bacteria in the mouth”

Call it what you will: Theatrical stage blood, fake blood or crisis actor blood; no matter what it is called, it is a convenient eye-catcher - the oldest of all tricks. Unlike Sandy Hook and the recent Santa Barbara contrived event, the Boston Marathon Bombing event used lots of theatrical blood to make it appear real.Moral Maters

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — In a stately neighborhood of Boulder, a city known as the Berkeley of the Rocky Mountains, a bull elk named “Big Boy” had become a treasured fixture.

When Mapleton residents learned a police officer killed the regal animal last year as it grazed beneath a crabapple tree, they led marches, wrote songs, held prayer vigils and hatched plans for a permanent memorial.   Continue reading “Elk killing trial ignites emotions in hippie town”

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Missouri should establish its own laboratory to produce chemicals for use in executions rather than rely on an “uneasy cooperation” with medical professionals and pharmaceutical companies, the state’s attorney general said Thursday.

Updated 5/29/14, 12:02AM ET: SB Police dispatch audio indicates “two suspects in custody with gunshot wounds.”

Frequently initial eyewitness accounts of violent crime scenes prove especially helpful for independent researchers to piece together what actually may have transpired. For example, in the aftermath of the major political assassinations of the late 1960s, the Oklahoma City Murrah Federal Building bombing, or more recent mass shootings such as Tucson, Aurora, and Sandy Hook, subsequent official accounts of potential culprits can vary significantly from those of first-hand witnesses.    Continue reading “Eyewitnesses: Two Shooters Involved in UCSB Massacre”
