A man who had just gotten out of prison 15 minutes earlier was ambushed and shot by another ex-convict as revenge for a previous run-in behind bars, state police said Friday.

A Mobile, Ala., mom says school officials forced her daughter to sign a contract promising not to commit suicide or harm others after the kindergartner “drew something that resembled a gun,” then pointed a crayon at another kid and said “pew, pew!”

5-year-old Elizabeth was sent home after school officials made her take a questionnaire to evaluating her for suicidal thoughts, then had her sign the safety contract promising to contact an adult if she was thinking of suicide or homicide. Washington (AFP) – US regulators on Friday approved Harvoni, a daily pill to treat hepatitis C that is simpler to administer than long-standing treatments but that carries a steep price tag.

The combination pill made by California-based Gilead Sciences was shown in trials to cure up to 99 percent of patients within two to three months.

“US government agencies have a long history of carrying out allegedly defensive biological warfare research at labs in Liberia and Sierra Leone. I was riding to work yesterday when I observed a female driver, who cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the driver to drive onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her. This evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out his window and gave the woman the finger.

Japan and the United States are revising their mutual defense guidelines for the first time in nearly two decades to respond to China’s military expansion and increase Japan’s role in regional defense.

An interim report released Wednesday says the U.S. and Japan are pursuing a wider partnership that requires “enhanced capabilities and greater shared responsibilities.”

They also suggest the NSA may have undercover agents planted inside companies to provide assistance in gaining access to systems in the global communications industry. Investigators say the student who killed a classmate before taking his own life at a suburban Denver high school described himself in a diary as “a psychopath with a superiority complex” and indicated he was exacting revenge for being teased in elementary school.
