When it comes to personal defense, sustainment, load bearing, clothing, and even footwear, regular readers will see a consistent pattern at DTG: The term ‘General Purpose’ is applied across the board. We define it loosely as whatever is being considered should be able to do many/most things very well, some things acceptably, and only a few things not so well. Using this definition in your considerations will take you much farther and actually lighten any load you might have to carry when/if civility fails. Think about it for a moment: You have a favorite set of ‘hiking’ boots for land navigation; a favorite pair for range work, still others for SUT training, and still others for ruck walks and so on. You’ve only got so much room in your ruck, right? And a reality is that should things go south and you are with your NPT, you’re not going to have time to ‘get used to’ the boots you have set aside for ‘SHTF’ scenarios. Extortion 17 was the call sign of a chinook helicopter carrying 17 Navy SEALs, who were a part of SEAL team six (who allegedly took out Osama bin Laden), along with a few Army Rangers, National Guard Pilots and at least 7 unknown Afghan soldiers. In a recent book, author and former Navy JAG officer Don Brown had outlined things about the largest one-day loss of life in the Afghan ware that many simply refuse to report on. In an exclusive interview, Brown, told Freedom Outpost that is looking at all of the relevant evidence that his conclusion is that American Special Forces in Afghanistan have, in essence, been under the command of the Afghan government. A California cop blasted a police K-9 after the dog bit him, authorities said.
The Richmond officer, who isn’t the animal’s handler, fired in self-defense,police told NBC.

WE LIKE TO think of the drone war as something far away, fought in the deserts of Yemen or the mountains of Afghanistan. But we now know it’s closer than we thought. There are 64 drone bases on American soil. That includes 12 locations housing Predator and Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles, which can be armed.
Public Intelligence, a non-profit that advocates for free access to information, released a map of military UAV activities in the United States on Tuesday. Assembled from military sources — especially this little-known June 2011 Air Force presentation (.pdf) — it is arguably the most comprehensive map so far of the spread of the Pentagon’s unmanned fleet. What exact missions are performed at those locations, however, is not clear. Some bases might be used as remote cockpits to control the robotic aircraft overseas, some for drone pilot training. With the phenomenal ability to watch news unfold moment by moment comes the unspoken responsibility of vigilance—both in watching for distraction and in not allowing matters of importance to slip from the spotlight. Issues tend to vanish after a maximum of two weeks spent debating every conceivable aspect, at which point—whether resolved or not—apparent aggregate memory loss sets in. Unfortunately, that is exactly what has happened with the indefinite detention provision passed into law as part of the 2012 NDAA. As the Senate took the callous opportunity afforded by the shooting in Charleston to ram through its veto-proof approval of nobody’s favorite legislation for fiscal year 2016, another golden opportunity to bring the egregious law to the forefront passed right by. A police department in Mobile, Alabama, confirmed the death of their community relations dog, Mason.
Sgt. Jason Woodruff, of the Gulf Shores Police Department, said Mason was not used for enforcement purposes.
According to an official release by the department, On Thursday, June 18, while transitioning between duties, Mason’s handler, Corporal Josh Coleman, forgot that Mason was still in the back seat of his patrol car. “On discovering Mason’s absence Cpl. Not everyone’s happy with Mayor de Blasio’s surprise decision to add close to 1,300 officers to the NYPD’s ranks.
The head of the police union said Tuesday that the paltry number is just a “drop in the bucket.”

Defense Secretary Ash Carter on Monday said the United States will supply weapons, aircraft and soldiers for NATO’s rapid reaction force to help European states defend against what Washington imagines to be “security threats.”
Under the plan, the US will contribute intelligence and surveillance capabilities, special operations forces, logistics, transport aircraft, and a range of weapons support that could include bombers, fighters and ship-based missiles, the Associated Press reported. Two New York police patrols were attacked in the Bronx and Harlem, with officers suffering fractures, scratches and bruises. One union boss argued the violence against officers was a result of politicians scapegoating the police.

The Idaho Army National Guard is pulling out the big guns to get ready for their upcoming deployment. 25 hundred Idaho soldiers will be sent to the army’s most premier training facility in California.
The Idaho National Guard will get the best training in the world at the National Training Center. And to be ready for their deployment they are shooting live ammunition and training at the Orchard Combat Training Center near Gowen Air Field.
